Toyota Mobility Foundation Collaborates with University for Student Innovation Program 2025

Introduction

The Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), under the leadership of Akio Toyoda, has initiated an exciting opportunity for high school and university students. In collaboration with the University of Tokyo's One Earth Guardians (OEGs), the foundation aims to nurture innovative ideas that promote a sustainable future through the program titled "Good Life on Earth." This initiative is designed to support students in realizing their visions for a better planet.

The Good Life on Earth Program

Launched this year, the Good Life on Earth program sought passionate individuals who aspire to contribute to the idea of "Good Life"—a concept that embodies not only living in harmony with our environment but also ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for all. Participants were encouraged to develop ideas that address current global challenges while focusing on what they love most. The selected participants for the 2025 program were chosen in May, adding up to a total of 29 participants from the first through fourth cohorts.

This year, seven talented individuals have been chosen to represent diverse backgrounds and perspectives, including:
1. Anka Kadena (High School Freshman, Tokyo)
2. Noena Kato (University Student)
3. Kairi Kondo (University Sophomore, Miyagi)
4. Ayano Sasaki (High School Sophomore, Kanagawa)
5. Kokoro Sugano (High School Senior, Hyogo)
6. Sayaka Hikono (University Freshman, Kanagawa)
7. Wakana Yamamoto (University Freshman, Kanagawa)

Kickoff Event

From September 13 to 15, the new cohort of 2025 gathered at the University of Tokyo's Food Science Building, Nakajima Memorial Hall, for an inspiring kickoff event. During the event, participants engaged with esteemed professors from the university, attended seminars, and explored various research laboratories. This hands-on experience provided them with a clear understanding of how academic research can intersect with innovative solutions for sustainable living.

Mentorship and Collaboration

One of the core components of the Good Life on Earth program is mentorship. The selected students will have the unique opportunity to receive guidance from leading researchers in cutting-edge fields. This initiative encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration among peers who share similar ambitions. Through networking events and brainstorming sessions, participants can exchange ideas and refine their projects, all aimed at creating actionable solutions for a sustainable future.

Follow Our Journey

The TMF community is committed to keeping the public informed about the progress of their initiatives. Updates and stories from the Good Life on Earth program can be followed on various social media platforms, including Instagram, YouTube, and note. These channels offer insights into the participants' journeys, featuring their projects and the impact they aim to achieve.

TMF's Commitment to Society

Since its establishment, Toyota Motor Corporation has prioritized respect for all stakeholders, including customers, partners, employees, and communities. The foundation aims to contribute to societal development through mobility, establishing TMF in August 2014 to drive public-interest initiatives. With a focus on addressing mobility challenges worldwide, TMF undertakes various projects, both local and international, to enhance the quality of life through mobility solutions. The Good Life on Earth program exemplifies TMF’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, fostering young minds to think critically about the future they wish to create.

In conclusion, the Good Life on Earth program stands as a beacon of hope and innovation, empowering the next generation to take charge of their ideas and challenge the status quo for a sustainable, thriving planet.
