Explore the Marvels of Ancient Egypt at the ACN Ramses II Exhibition

Discover the Wonders of Ancient Egypt

This summer, prepare for an enriching experience at the "ACN Ramses the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs" exhibition, currently taking place at the Ramses Museum at CREVIA BASE Tokyo. This special exhibition showcases approximately 180 invaluable treasures from the ancient Egyptian civilization, celebrated during the reign of Ramses II.

In collaboration with NEON JAPAN and under the oversight of renowned Egyptologist Dr. Sakushi Yoshimura, the event aims to captivate children and families. Starting from August 28, 2025, attendees will receive a free educational leaflet titled "Explore More About Ramses II!" tailored especially for kids up to high school age. With limited copies available, families are encouraged to engage with this unique learning opportunity that spills over into summer research projects.

Families are already praising their visits:
  • - “Both my child and I had a fantastic time. We enjoyed capturing photo memories which will inspire my child's summer homework!”

Who Was Ramses II?

Ramses II, often referred to as the most significant king of ancient Egypt, ruled for an unprecedented 67 years. His reign symbolized the zenith of power and wealth during Egypt’s New Kingdom era, and he is regarded as an embodiment of ancient Egyptian grandeur. Known as a formidable warrior, Ramses II also brokered peace with neighboring territories and spearheaded numerous architectural projects, including his monumental constructions. Fascinatingly, he had over 100 children during his lifetime, further solidifying his legacy.

Spotlight on Unique Artifacts: Ramses' Sarcophagus

Among the exhibition's highlights is the rare display of Ramses II's sarcophagus, crafted from precious Lebanon cedar. This remarkable artifact, which features both the main body and lid, is being exhibited outside of Egypt for the first time in around 47 years due to the special cooperation of the Egyptian government. Attendees can also admire other magnificent pieces, including a colossal statue and various depictions of Ramses in reverence—each seen in Japan for the first time.

VR Experience: Reliving Ancient Egypt

Enhancing the exhibition experience, the latest VR technology gives guests an immersive encounter with ancient Egypt. The standout feature is a VR journey through the temples constructed under Ramses II, particularly the famed Abu Simbel Temple. Attendees will join Ramses' wife, Nefertari, on an imaginative journey that reveals how Ramses transformed Egypt into an ancient powerhouse. Using a unique motion chair, visitors will travel through the temple and experience the energy of ancient times before culminating in a face-to-face meeting with Ramses II himself. Note that an additional fee applies for this VR experience.
