Permag™, a forerunner in the rare earth magnets market, recently unveiled plans for a substantial enhancement of its samarium cobalt (SmCo) magnet manufacturing capabilities. As the only producer of these essential magnets in the United States, this expansion aims to fortify the domestic supply chain for critical magnetic materials, addressing burgeoning demand from various industries.
Situated in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Permag's Electron Energy Corporation (EEC) facility is set to undergo a multi-million-dollar upgrade, effectively doubling its production capacity. This ambitious project encompasses the installation of advanced alloying, pressing, and fabrication equipment, signifying a robust commitment to meet current market needs while preparing for future demands driven by clients that include major players in aerospace, semiconductor, medical, and industrial sectors.
