Aon Strengthens Leadership in EMEA and Latin America to Enhance Client Services
On May 19, 2026, Aon plc, a notable global player in professional services, declared significant leadership transitions to bolster its Aon United strategy aimed at delivering exemplary client services. Effective June 1, Kai-Frank Buechter and Tracy-Lee Kus will share the co-CEO mantle for Aon’s EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) operations. Buechter will chart the course for Continental Europe and North Africa, while Kus will focus on the UK, Ireland, South Africa, and the Middle East. Furthermore, Pedro Penalva will step into the role of CEO for Latin America, starting July 1.
These prominent leaders will work directly under Greg Case, Aon’s president and CEO, and will also join the Aon Executive Committee. The transition plan includes Julie Page and Alejandro Galizia taking up the roles of chairs of EMEA and Latin America through 2026, after which they will serve as senior advisors to Aon until 2027. This strategic shift comes as Aon aims to fulfill the evolving needs of its clients amid increasing market complexities.
Greg Case remarked on the importance of this transition, stating, "As we continue to accelerate our Aon United strategy to serve clients with distinction at a time of rising need, we are excited to announce new regional responsibilities for Kai-Frank, Tracy-Lee, and Pedro to help advance how we deliver for clients in and across our regions."
Buechter's introduction into the co-CEO position is backed by a robust career that spans over 26 years at Aon. He has previously spearheaded Aon's DACH region, which covers Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and he has taken on various leadership responsibilities, contributing profoundly to Aon's growth and innovation in risk solutions. Buechter expressed his eagerness to partner with Kus, noting the increasing volatility and complexity faced by clients in EMEA.
On the other hand, Kus boasts over 30 years of experience across multiple disciplines in the insurance industry, having made her mark in underwriting and broking across regions like South Africa, the UK, and Asia. Prior to her co-CEO assignment, she led Aon's Global Broking Center, focusing on market strategies and client solutions. She too emphasized her commitment to advancing the client services model of Aon, expressing excitement about leading Aon’s EMEA endeavors alongside Buechter.
Meanwhile, Penalva brings over 15 years of experience at Aon to the role of Latin American CEO. His recent tenure included leading Enterprise Clients in EMEA, which allowed him to integrate Aon’s capabilities for numerous significant clients across multiple countries. His leadership will now redirect towards nurturing more territory within Latin America, a region facing unique challenges and complexities.
The leadership transition has been structured keeping in mind Aon’s goal to maintain high standards of service amidst rapid changes in the global market. Julie Page, as the outgoing EMEA CEO, expressed pride in Aon’s achievements under her watch, while Galizia reflected on his decades-long journey with the firm, feeling a deep connection to Aon’s evolution in Latin America. Both are optimistic about the new leadership team’s direction and capabilities.
In light of these appointments, Aon has reiterated its commitment to enriching and protecting lives worldwide by equipping its clientele with insights to make informed decisions about risk management and growth. Aon's presence in over 120 countries emphasizes its capacity to provide tailored solutions through a global framework.
As Aon embarks on this new chapter, it continues to reflect its dedication to innovation, stability, and excellence in serving its diverse global clientele. The collective expertise of the new leadership is anticipated to propel the firm further into its mission of being a trusted partner in navigating the challenges of today’s economic environment.
