SEG Solar Unveils Plans for Third Manufacturing Facility in the USA

SEG Solar Expands Manufacturing Footprint in the USA

In an ambitious move to bolster its manufacturing capacity, SEG Solar, a prominent American solar module manufacturer, has unveiled plans to establish its third factory in the Houston metropolitan area, Texas. This new facility will have an impressive capacity of 4.6 gigawatts (GW), which will increase SEG's total production capability in the United States to 10.6 GW, solidifying its status as one of the largest solar module producers nationwide.

Details of the New Plant

The new plant will be developed on a sprawling site of approximately 1.15 million square feet. SEG has partnered with a local construction company to bring this vision to fruition, with construction expected to conclude by March 2027. The commercial production from this facility is projected to kick off in May 2027, emphasizing SEG’s commitment to not just expanding its footprint but also enhancing its production capabilities with cutting-edge technology.

This factory is set to play a vital role in facilitating SEG's transition towards next-generation technology, particularly Heterojunction Technology (HJT) which is known for its high efficiency and better alignment with evolving market demands. Furthermore, this facility is designed to ensure compliance with stringent regulations, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) guidelines, through enhanced traceability within its supply chain and rigorous material control.

Strategic Supply Chain Enhancements

In addition to expanding its manufacturing facility in Texas, SEG Solar is proactively working on strategic supply chain integrations. The company has initiated plans for a new plant dedicated to producing ingots and wafers in Indonesia. This move is critical in securing essential components, improving global supply chain resilience, and ensuring sustainability in its production processes.

Moreover, SEG is also exploring the establishment of locations in the USA that will specifically cater to HJT cell manufacturing. This proactive strategy aims to localize key manufacturing processes, thereby exerting greater control over the innovative solar technologies that will define the energy landscape of the future.

Commitment to Renewable Energy

With an expanded manufacturing capacity and a focused approach towards supply chain integration and technological advancement, SEG Solar is positioned to strongly support the ongoing energy transition in the United States. By delivering reliable, compliant, and efficient solar solutions, SEG continues to play a pivotal role in the renewable energy sector.

Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, SEG Solar is recognized for its vertically integrated photovoltaic systems, supplying cost-effective and reliable solar modules for utility, commercial, and residential markets. As of late 2025, SEG had shipped over 7.5 GW of solar modules worldwide and achieved a production capacity of 6.5 GW.

The upcoming facility, coupled with the execution of their strategic expansion plans, signals a promising future for SEG Solar as it embraces its responsibility towards fostering a sustainable energy ecosystem.
