On April 1, 2026, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) announced its U.S. sales results for March 2026, highlighting a total of 211,617 vehicles sold. This figure indicates a decrease of 8.5% in volume compared to March 2025, reflecting broader industry trends amid shifting consumer preferences and economic conditions. Notably, the daily selling rate (DSR) also indicated a decline of 4.9%.
Despite the overall drop in total sales, electrified vehicle sales showed a notable increase, totaling 115,422 units sold in March, an increase of 2.5% on a volume basis and 6.6% on a DSR basis. Electrified vehicles now account for an impressive 54.5% of total sales volume. This growth reinforces Toyota's ongoing commitment to sustainable transportation solutions through its innovative electrified vehicle line-up.

Highlighted Achievements
Noteworthy is the performance of the Toyota Corolla Cross Gas and Grand Highlander Hybrid, both achieving all-time best sales figures. Additionally, the introduction of new electrified models such as the RZ and NX Plug-in Hybrid in the Lexus lineup has contributed positively, as they also set sales records.
Future Outlook
Reflecting on these results, Andrew Gilleland, Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations at TMNA stated, _“Our first-quarter performance demonstrates the underlying strength of our business. We maintained stable sales year-over-year, even while navigating production constraints and limited inventory during the ramp-up of new models such as the updated RAV4.”_ He expressed confidence in meeting the company's full-year goals despite the ongoing challenges.
TMNA's strategy appears to focus on enhancing its line of electrified vehicles, with 32 different options available between the Toyota and Lexus brands. This extensive range plays a crucial role as consumers increasingly shift towards more eco-friendly driving options.
In conclusion, while Toyota's sales figures for March 2026 indicate some challenges, the growth in electrified vehicle sales highlights a positive trend in consumer preferences towards sustainability. As TMNA navigates through production and inventory hurdles, its commitment to maintaining stability and growth in the electrified vehicle market is resolute.
