DeepL Strengthens Executive Leadership with Key Appointments to Propel Global AI Growth

DeepL, a global leader in Artificial Intelligence product development, has announced significant updates to its executive team with the strategic appointments of Gavin Mee as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Detlef Krause as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Both leaders possess extensive backgrounds in renowned tech companies, notably Salesforce and ServiceNow, and join the firm as it gears up for an ambitious growth trajectory in the coming year.

Jarek Kutylowski, CEO and founder of DeepL, expressed enthusiasm about these appointments: “Starting 2026 with Gavin and Detlef on board positions us perfectly to advance the adoption of DeepL’s AI solutions for businesses. Their respective experiences will be pivotal in expanding our reach, delivering innovations to our customers, and fortifying our status as a global leader in AI technology.”

Detlef Krause Takes on Chief Revenue Officer Role

Detlef Krause brings over 25 years of enterprise sales leadership experience, having held executive positions at industry giants like Microsoft, Salesforce, SAP, and ServiceNow. His proven track record in developing and scaling teams across international markets has been remarkable. Notably, during his tenure at ServiceNow, Krause successfully grew the German operations from 150 to over 500 employees and doubled the EMEA core team.

"From my initial discussions with the DeepL team, it was evident that I was joining one of Europe’s most innovative companies in AI, alongside a team unlike any I’ve previously encountered. This marks the beginning of an exhilarating journey for me," Krause stated.

Stepping into Krause's position, David Parry-Jones is retiring after a distinguished career in technology. Kutylowski remarked on the significant contributions of Parry-Jones in establishing DeepL as a leader in AI-driven communication solutions. "David’s insights and mentorship have been invaluable to our success, and I am confident that Detlef will ensure we build on this robust foundation as we drive growth in the upcoming years."

As CRO, Krause aims to solidify DeepL’s market position as a leader in AI solutions for enterprises. He believes that while DeepL is recognized for its advanced language AI capabilities, it is now emerging as a pioneer in agent-based AI technologies. “My goal is to implement DeepL’s AI in organizations worldwide, enhancing agent workflows and integrating DeepL into the core of global business operations,” he asserted.

Gavin Mee Joins as Chief Operating Officer

Simultaneously, Gavin Mee, an industry veteran with significant leadership experience in scaling go-to-market organizations, joins DeepL as COO. His previous roles include key positions at Salesforce, Oracle, Adobe, UiPath, and Palo Alto Networks. Mee’s operational oversight will focus on fostering excellence and coordination among teams at DeepL, ensuring effective execution of the company’s strategies.

“I am thrilled to join DeepL at such an exciting time,” Mee commented. “This company boasts an incredible product, a passionate team, and an audacious vision for the future. My objective is to enhance our operations and workflows, ensuring we not only meet our customers’ needs but also maximize value for our investors and partners. Together, we will create a top-tier organization that continues to lead in AI-driven communication.”

Charting the Future of AI Communication

These leadership transitions come on the heels of DeepL’s most successful year yet, marked by the significant expansion of its product offerings, including the introduction of AI agents and a Customization Hub. Building on this momentum, 2026 is set to be a landmark year for DeepL as it further extends its AI solutions across Europe and beyond, delivering groundbreaking innovations that will redefine how businesses and individuals communicate and work via AI.
