New Leadership at the Information Management and Innovation University

The Information Management and Innovation University, located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has recently announced a significant change in its leadership. At a board meeting held on August 24, 2026, the board of trustees, led by Chairman Tadataka Oka, confirmed that President Ichiyo Nakamura will be stepping down from his position on September 30, 2026. Following his departure, Vice President Minokuni Koga will take over as the new president, assuming his role on October 1, 2026.

President Koga will serve until the end of the term previously held by Nakamura, which will conclude on March 31, 2027. Background of Minokuni Koga

Minokuni Koga has a profound background in both education and technology, having initiated his career in the field of engineering. He graduated from Nihon University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in April 1982. His early professional experience includes a tenure at Komatsu Forklift Co., Ltd. until March 1985.

Following this, Koga spent over a decade at the Nihon Denki Vocational School, where he served as a faculty member until March 1997. His career progressed, and in April 1997, he became the Deputy Director of the Electronic Institute of the Educational Corporation until March 2000, further demonstrating his commitment to the advancement of educational practices.

Koga then took on further leadership roles within the educational sector, including the head of the Computer Technology Department at Nihon Denki Vocational School from 2000 to 2004, and later as Vice Principal of the same institution until March 2008. His academic journey continued as he pursued a Master's degree in University Administration from the Graduate School of International Studies at Obirin University, graduating in March 2010.

Koga's contributions have not gone unnoticed. He was recognized for his dedication to education with an award from the Tokyo Industrial Education Promotion Association in March 2019. His trajectory has prepared him for this leadership position, further solidifying his commitment to vocational education through his role in the establishment preparations for the Specialized Professional University, which began in April 2019.

Most recently, Koga served as the Vice President at the Information Management and Innovation University, in addition to being the Director of the Vocational Education Research and Development Center at the Electronic School since April 2026.
