Livox Technology, a prominent name in LiDAR systems, has rolled out its latest innovation, the Avia 2. This advanced LiDAR solution is designed for long-range applications, with impressive capabilities especially suited for inspections in power line maintenance, transportation, and resource management. The Avia 2 pushes the boundaries of technology with an extraordinary detection range of up to 1,000 meters, ensuring operators can capture intricate details efficiently.
Exceptional Detection Range
With the use of a powerful 1535-nm laser, the Avia 2 features enhanced energy concentration and a narrow beam profile, significantly increasing its operational range. In normal mode, it detects targets with a reflectivity of 5% at a respectable distance of 400 meters. When assessing more reflective targets, like those with a 10% reflectivity, the range can extend to around 600 meters. By activating its focus mode, the Avia 2 can further enhance this capability, reaching up to 800 meters for highly reflective targets.
This long-range capability means that a single Avia 2 unit can effectively monitor long stretches of power lines or the exterior of substations without needing multiple sensors. This not only reduces operational complexity but also streamlines the processing of crucial point cloud data collected during inspections.
Versatile Fields of View
The Avia 2 is engineered for versatility, offering operators two viewing field options. The standard mode provides an expansive view of 80° x 80° for wide-area monitoring, while the focus mode narrows to 15° x 15°, suitable for detailed inspections over significant distances. This flexibility allows for a single device to adapt to varying operational needs without requiring hardware changes, making it incredibly user-friendly and efficient.
Precision Under Challenging Conditions
One of the remarkable features of the Avia 2 is its ability to maintain high precision in adverse weather. With a laser beam divergence of just 0.25 x 0.25 mrad, it can detect fine objects such as power lines and branches from considerable distances. Importantly, the system can penetrate dust and rain droplets, which usually obstruct data quality, ensuring that high-resolution 3D point clouds are recorded reliably.
To further enhance the efficiency of the scanning process, the Avia 2 employs a non-repetitive scanning method using a wedge prism, creating an optimal balance between broad coverage and heightened accuracy. By accumulating data over time, it progressively eliminates unscanned areas, yielding a more complete model of infrastructure without needing additional scans.
Designed for Longevity
The Avia 2 is built for durability and prolonged use, boasting an IP66 rating for weather resistance and an operating temperature range of -20°C to 65°C. Its estimated Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) is an impressive 62,500 hours, minimizing the need for maintenance, even in remote areas. The device's integrated algorithms significantly improve performance in rain and fog, filtering out environmental interference before the data is processed, further enhancing the quality of point clouds and reducing computational demands.
