Exciting Concert of Taiga Drama 'Berabou' Announced for Tokyo and Kobe
This summer is set to be thrilling for fans of the ongoing Taiga drama 'Berabou ~ Tsutaya Shige no Eikan no Yume Banashi ~'. Scheduled for July 8, 2025, the orchestra concert will be held at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall: Takemitsu Memorial, followed by another performance at Kobe International Conference Center on August 10. This concert will take audiences on a journey through the unforgettable moments and music of the series.
The drama 'Berabou' highlights the extraordinary life of Tsutaya Shigezaburou, a person instrumental in shaping Japan's media industry and pop culture. His profound dedication to entertainment often sought after humor, even when faced with scrutiny from authorities. The story is filled with laughter, tears, and exciting mysteries, resonating strongly with its audience.
Following the tremendous success of last November's concert for 'Hikaru Kimi e', which occurred just before the drama's climax, 'Berabou' concert marks a timely milestone, coinciding with the second half of the series.
Renowned composer John Graham, hailing from Virginia, USA, crafted the music for 'Berabou'. With an academic background that includes a bachelor’s degree from Williams College in Massachusetts and an MBA from Stanford University, Graham possesses a unique career path. Before stepping into the music industry, he worked as a senior vice president in the finance department of The Walt Disney Company, demonstrating his versatility. In addition to his business acumen, he debuted as a composer in 1993 with the film 'Full Contact' and has since contributed music to numerous films and games, including the acclaimed Taiga drama 'Kirin ga Kuru' in 2020, before embarking on creating music for 'Berabou'.
The concerts will be conducted by Kanade Yokoyama, with the Tokyo performance featuring the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kobe performance brought to life by the Osaka Symphony Orchestra. Audiences can expect to hear compositions such as the main theme 'Glorious Edo', along with pieces like 'Alchemist' and 'Gambler', among others. John Graham will also make a special guest appearance during the Tokyo performance, with additional guest stars from the drama to be announced later.
As the epic Taiga drama continues to unfold over a year, the concert serves as an exciting introduction to the thrilling second half of the series. It promises a unique experience where the wisdom of Edo is brought to life through orchestral music, making it a moment not to be missed.
