AlphaDrive, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and led by CEO Yoichi Aso, has partnered with Academist, an academic crowdfunding platform based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, to establish the "AlphaDrive x Academist Grant" program. This initiative aims to support researchers with the potential for social implementation of their innovative studies. Four researchers have been selected to receive funding and mentorship through this significant program.

Significance of the Initiative

AlphaDrive operates with the purpose of "Opening Human Potential," continuously supporting technology-driven business development via its R&D Incubation Center. The AlphaDrive x Academist Grant is designed as a new opportunity for researchers, acting as a bridge to connect their potential with social implementation and commercialization. The grant goes beyond just financial assistance; through ongoing discussions and mentoring, it fosters an environment where researchers can explore the pathways to translating their work into tangible solutions. By leveraging the extensive assets, networks, and business development capabilities offered by the AlphaDrive Group, the program pledges a comprehensive 360-degree support to the selected researchers.

1. Ryo Shibui from Kanazawa University
- Mentor: Executive Officer Furukawa
- Research Theme: Visualization of invisible risks in manufacturing air quality through Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) to analyze metal particles in real-time, ensuring safety in labor environments.

2. Keishi Komatsu from Nagaoka University of Technology
- Mentor: Executive Officer Kato
- Research Theme: A one-minute aroma analysis platform using terahertz gas sensing technology, transforming quality control in the food and beverage sectors by drastically reducing analysis time.

3. Akiyoshi Tominaga from Shizuoka University
- Mentor: Executive Officer Utsunomiya
- Research Theme: Developing 'BloomX', a fundamental technology for stable control of plant flowering and germination, addressing issues caused by climate change.

4. Naoko Yoshida from Ochanomizu University
- Mentor: Executive Officer Hirao
- Research Theme: Development of a remote diagnostic support device for cerumen impaction to prevent health risks among over three million elderly with hearing impairments.

Future Endeavors

Starting May 2026, the mentoring process will begin, with executive officers guiding each selected researcher through their journey toward social implementation and commercialization of their research outcomes. This commitment does not have a set expiration date, ensuring ongoing support until the conclusion of each project. AlphaDrive aims to maximize its network and business development prowess to maintain an ecosystem that continually produces new ventures driven by researcher initiatives.
