Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Marks 100 Years of Aviation Excellence with Philanthropic Campaign

Celebrating a Century of Aviation Excellence

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University recently celebrated its centennial by looking back on a storied history while also announcing initiatives to guide its future. Established as a leader in aviation and aerospace education, the university held elaborate ceremonies across its campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida, Prescott, Arizona, and Asia. At the center of this celebration was a significant philanthropic endeavor named Imagine What's Next: The Campaign for Embry-Riddle. This ambitious campaign aims to raise $300 million by 2030, ensuring continued excellence in education and innovation for future generations of aerospace professionals.

This celebratory week kicked off with a gala event on March 26, where Board of Trustees Chairman Mori Hosseini and his wife, Forough, made an impactful announcement. They pledged a landmark gift of $20 million to support the fundraising campaign. The announcement underscored not only the couple’s commitment to Embry-Riddle but also their belief in the university's role as a catalyst for innovation and progress in the industry.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted Embry-Riddle's contributions as an economic driver in the region while addressing the attendees at the Daytona Beach event. He explained the importance of partnerships the university has formed with leading airlines and aerospace companies, which have resulted in the establishment of the new Boeing Engineering Center and the U.S. headquarters of AURA AERO on the Embry-Riddle campus. These endeavors represent a commitment to creating high-paying jobs and solidifying Florida's status as a hub for aviation education and innovation.

Hosseini, as the chairman, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving the university's goals. He described the journey ahead as a collective endeavor requiring alumni, industry players, and government bodies to unite their efforts. The message was clear: to excel in the most competitive environments, education must be innovative, efficient, and relevant.

The Philanthropic Campaign: Imagine What’s Next

Each of these initiatives aims to remove barriers for students, enhance hands-on experiences, attract top-tier faculty, and facilitate collaborations that address real-world challenges in aviation and aerospace.

In an inspiring kickoff, Embry-Riddle President P. Barry Butler reflected on the university's founders, T. Higby Embry and John Paul Riddle, who envisioned limitless potential. Butler remarked,
