Orange EV Secures Major $100 Million Credit Facility to Expand Zero-Emission Truck Production

Orange EV Secures $100 Million Credit Facility

In a significant development for the electric vehicle industry, Orange EV, a leading manufacturer of zero-emission terminal trucks, has entered into a $100 million revolving credit facility facilitated by Wells Fargo Bank. This move marks a milestone in the company's journey toward establishing a robust balance sheet and enhancing liquidity to accommodate its operational and growth plans.

The funding will not only support the ongoing demands of working capital but also propel the expansion efforts of OptiGrid, Orange EV's newly launched subsidiary focused on accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) through innovative charging solutions. As the demand for eco-friendly transportation increases, Orange EV's strategic initiatives are becoming tremendously relevant in the drive toward sustainable practices in logistics and manufacturing.

Wells Fargo’s Managing Director, Steve Linderman, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are pleased to support Orange EV with flexible capital solutions that align with their growth strategy across various facets, including manufacturing and infrastructure.” This partnership articulates a shared commitment to advancing eco-conscious transportation methods.

Founded and based in Kansas City, Orange EV specializes in manufacturing 100% electric terminal trucks that service a range of markets, particularly focusing on busy ports, rail yards, and logistics facilities across North America. The need for efficient and clean transportation solutions has been accentuated by the ongoing global shift towards reducing carbon emissions and implementing stringent environmental regulations.

Recently, Orange EV has made headlines by scaling its offerings through OptiGrid, which has developed innovative battery-integrated fast charging solutions aimed at addressing various sectors far beyond just terminal trucks. These deployments not only ease infrastructure constraints that large fleets often face but also cut down on the substantial time and investment typically required for full-scale electrification.

A major issue inhibiting the widespread utilization of electric fleets has been the prohibitive costs associated with upgrading electrical infrastructure. With OptiGrid’s technology, fleets can now increase their charging capabilities without relying on the lengthy and expensive utility upgrades previously deemed necessary. This solution compresses installation timelines significantly, turning what could take months or years into mere days or weeks.

Kurt Neutgens, CEO of Orange EV, noted that this newly acquired liquidity provides the company with the resources necessary to continue its rapid growth trajectory achieved over the past year. “As we expect one out of every four new yard trucks purchased or leased this year to be an Orange EV model, this credit facility is crucial in helping us meet that demand,” Neutgens stated. He also pointed out the company’s successful tripling of production levels and enhancement of its rental and leasing business.

The financial boost comes at a time of remarkable achievements for Orange EV, which recently fulfilled a 40-truck order for APM Terminals in California, celebrated the deployment of its 2,000th electric terminal truck, and recorded a historic order for 600 electric terminal trucks from a customer.

As the market for electric vehicles continues to evolve, Orange EV stands out, reflecting substantial capabilities for large-scale operation and reliability within short timeframes. With over 36 million miles traveled and 14 million operational hours recorded across 43 states and parts of Canada and the Caribbean, Orange EV is proving to be a pivotal player in transforming yard operations with electric solutions.

In addition to manufacturing terminal trucks, Orange EV provides a comprehensive service package, including onsite service and chargers like the Orange Juicer™, which is produced by their OptiGrid subsidiary. This allows various fleets to implement advanced yard operations with superior reliability in minimal time.

The recent credit facility from Wells Fargo indicates great confidence in Orange EV’s mission to revolutionize the transportation industry by providing sustainable solutions while effectively addressing the operational needs of fleet operators. As the world steadily transitions toward environmental sustainability, Orange EV’s advancements place it at the forefront of this critical movement.
