Healthcare Visionary Katheryne Richardson Strengthens BRG's Leadership Team

Katheryne Richardson Joins BRG's Healthcare Practice

On December 3, 2024, BRG, a prominent global consulting firm, announced the appointment of Katheryne Richardson as a Managing Director within its Healthcare Practice in Washington, D.C. Known for her extensive expertise in drug pricing and access issues, Richardson's arrival signals a new chapter for BRG as it aims to tackle some of the healthcare industry's toughest challenges.

Richardson comes with over 25 years of experience in navigating complex drug pricing landscapes. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Global Pricing and Health Systems Analytics at Bristol Meyers Squibb (BMS), where she managed a diverse team of over 100 professionals. During her tenure at BMS, she played a pivotal role in developing pricing strategies, executing contracts, and providing analytic insights into government pricing. She was notably involved in the formation of the company's approach to the 340B Drug Pricing Program and led pricing functions during the initial stages of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Inflation Reduction Act.

Her wealth of knowledge extends to her prior experience as Vice President of 340B Compliance at Apexus, where she fostered critical relationships across various sectors — from policymakers at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to leaders at major academic institutions. Through these collaborations, she spearheaded initiatives that established innovative organizational capabilities, such as a national call center and educational programs that assisted thousands of healthcare professionals.

Aaron Vandervelde, a Managing Director at BRG, expressed confidence in Richardson’s ability to lead and innovate, saying, "Her track record of stakeholder engagement and her visionary approach will significantly enhance our team's capacity to deliver value-added solutions to our clients."

In her new role at BRG, Richardson plans to leverage her comprehensive experience along with cutting-edge technologies to solve intricate challenges in the pharmaceutical supply chain. One of her primary objectives is to enhance the transparency of drug discount delivery systems. "Joining BRG represents an incredible opportunity for collaboration and innovation," said Richardson during her onboarding announcement. "The firm’s technological prowess aligns perfectly with my experience, allowing us to tackle the pressing issues in healthcare today."

Furthermore, she holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, in addition to being a licensed pharmacist. This educational background, combined with her extensive career, positions her as an asset in the evolving landscape of healthcare policy and operational strategy.

In a competitive environment where healthcare organizations are increasingly reliant on effective pricing strategies and compliance frameworks, Richardson's leadership is expected to empower BRG's clients to navigate the complexities of contemporary healthcare systems.
