20th Annual A Night of Hope Gala: Supporting Grieving Children on October 16, 2025

20th Annual A Night of Hope Gala on October 16, 2025

The 20th Annual Night of Hope Gala, a collaborative event between A Little Hope and Comfort Zone Camp, is set to take place in the vibrant atmosphere of New York City on October 16, 2025. This special occasion aims to raise vital funds to support grieving children and families who have experienced the loss of a loved one due to suicide or overdose. All proceeds from the event will directly fund free camps, where children can navigate their grief in a safe and nurturing environment.

The impact of losing a parent or sibling is profound, especially for children, and can leave them grappling with complex feelings such as grief, guilt, confusion, and anger. Recognizing this urgent need, A Little Hope Foundation and Comfort Zone Camp have united to provide the necessary resources and support channels for families in mourning.

Richard Schimel, the President and Founding Board Member of A Little Hope, expressed the critical role of their collaboration: "Our partnership with Comfort Zone Camp addresses the growing need for more resources dedicated to childhood bereavement, specifically for those who have lost a parent or sibling due to suicide or overdose. The camps provide a secure space for children to heal, feel supported, and connect with a community that understands their journey. We can offer these camps free of charge, thanks to our generous donors."

Furthermore, Lynne B. Hughes, the Founder and CEO of Comfort Zone Camp, highlighted the challenges faced by children dealing with such losses: "Working with A Little Hope has been extraordinary. Both organizations are pioneers in the childhood bereavement sector, creating resources that empower these kids to express their emotions and find solace in a supportive community. The changes we witness in children and their families are both powerful and inspiring."

In 2024, Comfort Zone Camp successfully catered to 1,428 children affected by the loss of a loved one. Participants engaged in support and counseling sessions, alongside a peer community, in camps that saw 50 to 70 children each. This initiative, supported by multiple organizations, reached families nationwide through 13 specific camps focused on suicide and overdose loss. Additionally, the program includes optional settings for grieving parents or guardians where they too can find support.
