Reina Sawamura's Challenge to the World: Support Her Alpine Skiing Dreams

Supporting Reina Sawamura's Alpine Skiing Journey

At just 17 years old, Reina Sawamura is making waves in the world of alpine skiing as she prepares to take on the global stage. A resident of Matsumoto City in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, Reina has been skiing since she was three and officially began competing in elementary school. With notable wins at the national middle school skiing championships and two crowns at the Asia Children’s Games as a U16 representative, Reina's passion and talent for the sport have only grown. Her recent achievements include a remarkable second-place finish in slalom at the prestigious international event in Val d'Isère, France—a historic milestone for Japanese skiing.

With her selection as a designated member of the Japan National Alpine Ski Team this season, Reina is now setting her sights on Olympic glory. However, competing on Europe’s premier slopes comes with hefty costs, which she must largely cover herself. To alleviate her financial burden, Reina is launching a crowdfunding campaign titled "Challenge from Nagano: 17-Year-Old Alpine Skier Reina Sawamura's Challenge!" via Spportunity, a sports-focused crowdfunding platform.

Project Overview

Reina's campaign aims to raise a target amount of 3 million yen to cover her travel expenses for several European competitions and training sessions, as well as domestic events. The campaign launched on July 24, 2025, and runs until August 31, 2025. The anticipated expenditures include:

  • - August: European Expedition 1 to Lithuania - 700,000 yen
  • - October: European Expedition 2 to Austria and Italy - 1,000,000 yen
  • - November: European Expedition 3 to Northern Europe - 1,000,000 yen
  • - December: European Expedition 4 or China Expedition (FEC China) - 1,000,000 yen
  • - January: European Expedition 5 (to be determined) for three weeks - 800,000 yen
  • - February: Expedition to South Korea (FEC Korea)
  • - February - March: Domestic Expeditions (Inter-Highs, National Sports Festival, FEC Sugadaira, Hakuba, National Championships, etc.) - 500,000 yen
  • - March: European Expedition 6 to Norway for World Junior Championships (FIS U21)

Reina expresses, “This crowdfunding campaign is a significant step towards realizing my dream of competing on the Olympic stage. I genuinely appreciate any support you can provide to help me along this journey.”
