Sweet Elegance: Miniardise 'Valoris' Returns
From March 31, 2026, the Yokumoku Museum, located in Minato, Tokyo, will reintroduce its much-celebrated, limited-edition Miniardise known as 'Valoris.' This delicacy will be available at the on-site Cafe Valoris for visitors looking to blend art appreciation with gourmet indulgence.
'Valoris' is a culinary tribute to the southern French town of Vallauris, where the legendary Pablo Picasso dedicated himself to ceramic arts. Each piece of this Miniardise is designed to evoke the beauty and artistry of Picasso's creations, providing guests with an opportunity to savor flavors while enveloped in the sensory echoes of art.
As visitors enjoy an exhibition or simply stroll through the museum's exhibits, they are invited to reflect on the creative spirit of Picasso, intertwining those moments with a rich tapestry of tastes and aromas.
What Makes 'Valoris' Unique?
The Miniardise 'Valoris' draws inspiration from the regional pastry 'Calisson,' renowned in Vallauris. The confection boasts herb and citrus notes, encapsulating the essence of southern France.
This delicious treat features a base made from roasted almond Joconde, layered with a nougat mousse rich in dried fruit. It is topped with apricots poached in white wine, enhanced with rosemary and pink pepper. The entire creation is enveloped in a refreshing lemon mousse, and the surface resembles an artist’s canvas, meticulously adorned with apricots, red currants, and blackcurrants to create a masterpiece of flavors.
The price for a piece of this exquisite Miniardise is set at 550 yen (tax included), and it will be available starting March 31, 2026.
Miniardise Set: A Complementary Experience
Alongside individual servings, guests can also enjoy a Miniardise set for 1,500 yen (tax included), which includes a drink of choice. Options include hot or iced coffee, hot or iced tea, or juice. This set provides a delightful experience where the ‘Valoris’ can be accompanied by a selection of other Miniardises, showcasing a total of eight unique flavors curated under the supervision of Yokumoku Group's high-end brand, 'Un Grand.'
Visiting the Exhibit
The museum is also hosting the exhibition titled "Picasso, Miro, and Barcelona's Ceramics—A Love for Catalonia,” running from February 10 to December 20, 2026. Curated by the esteemed Kenji Matsuda, a prominent researcher in Spanish art and a professor at Keio University, the exhibition showcases ceramic works that reflect the deep cultural roots and artistic journeys of these three renowned artists. Visitors are invited to engage with the distinct qualities of their creations through materials that differ from traditional paintings.
The Yokumoku Museum offers an ambiance where art, culture, and culinary craftsmanship beautifully converge, making it a must-visit destination for art lovers and food enthusiasts alike.
