Quantum Flowers & Foods Sees Promising Future in Vietnam
Quantum Flowers & Foods (QFF), headquartered in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, has recently announced a significant achievement: the company has been selected for the "Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Program" subsidy under the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) for fiscal year 2024. This initiative is designed to support Japanese firms in tackling local challenges and fostering co-creation in Global South countries.
Understanding the Subsidy Program
The subsidy, integral to the Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Program, assists projects that aim to implement sustainable solutions through Japanese technology and business models. It focuses on fostering creative projects in countries facing significant local issues. To secure funding, projects undergo thorough evaluations by external experts, ensuring that selected initiatives can be practically executed.
QFF's accepted project revolves around utilizing neutron breeding technology to enhance the production efficiency of biofuels in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, particularly using locally adapted yeast strains that exhibit resilience in challenging environments.
The Details of QFF's Project
Project Name:
International Demonstration of Biofuel Production Efficiency Using Neutron-Bred Resistant Yeast in Vietnam
Project Overview:
This initiative will harness QFF’s proprietary neutron irradiation technology to breed and assess yeast strains tailored for local conditions marked by high temperatures and humidity. The project’s primary goal is to enhance fermentation efficiency in biofuel production, such as ethanol, thereby contributing to a decarbonized model for local biofuel production. This particular selection was made among a competitive pool of 234 applications, with only 75 projects receiving funding.
