Talos Appoints Kelly Ye as New Head of Research to Enhance Digital Asset Insights
Talos, a leader in institutional technology and data tailored for digital asset trading and portfolio management, has recently appointed Kelly Ye as their Head of Research. Her extensive background promises to amplify the firm's research capabilities and insights for institutional clients. Based in New York, Ye is set to steer efforts aimed at converting data into actionable insights that address critical questions faced by clients regarding market structure, liquidity, and emerging trends in onchain finance.
With nearly two decades of varied experience in both traditional finance and digital asset sectors, Kelly Ye steps into this vital role equipped with a rich portfolio. She has spent 14 years in traditional finance focusing on research, portfolio management, and product development, and also held prominent positions in digital asset investment at Avenir Group and Decentral Park Capital. Notably, she recently spearheaded Coinbridge, an initiative designed to bridge capital gaps for real-world assets that have been tokenized.
Ye’s academic credentials bolster her expertise; she holds a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from Peking University and a master’s degree in Operations Research from MIT, alongside being a CFA charterholder.
In response to Ye's appointment, Anton Katz, CEO and Co-Founder of Talos, emphasized the central role data plays within Talos’s operational vision. "Data has been part of our vision for Talos since the beginning, and our acquisition of Coin Metrics made it a central part of the platform," he said. Katz expressed confidence that Ye's background in building research and investment products will greatly benefit Talos's institutional clients, particularly as more assets are transitioned to digital formats.
In her new capacity, Ye will manage Talos's research program which serves a diverse range of institutions including asset managers, hedge funds, banks, and brokers. The output of her team's work promises to include analytical resources such as the 'State of the Network' newsletter, insights on onchain finance evolution, market commentary, deep-dive special reports, and other essential market reports—enhancing the informational landscape for Talos’s clientele.
Ye's arrival comes on the heels of Talos's strategic acquisition of Coin Metrics, which has integrated vital market, network data, indexes, and onchain analytics into the existing order execution and portfolio management systems. This move has underscored Talos's commitment to delivering nuanced research insights that significantly aid institutional decision-making across various investment phases.
"We are advancing beyond mere digital assets into a realm defined by digital markets, where traditional finance and onchain finance are converging more than ever," Ye explained, setting the tone for her vision at Talos. "Institutions require in-depth research to comprehend how these shifts affect liquidity, market structures, and investment opportunities." She sees Talos as uniquely positioned to deliver on these insights due to its comprehensive integration of execution management and portfolio services within the digital asset arena.
Looking forward, Kelly Ye aims to solidify Talos Research’s reputation as a leading source of information and analysis in the evolving financial landscape. By leveraging her expertise and strategic direction, she intends to ensure clients receive rigorous intellectual support as the digital markets continue to develop and mature. Talos, through its innovative platform, connects institutions seamlessly to critical entities within the digital asset ecosystem, ensuring their clients are armed with the requisite knowledge to navigate the complexities of this new financial frontier.
