Edyia and Nihon Falcom's Exciting Collaboration
In an exciting development for retro gaming enthusiasts, Edyia Inc., based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with the esteemed video game developer Nihon Falcom Corp. of Tachikawa, Tokyo. This agreement will facilitate the global commercialization of some of Nihon Falcom's most iconic titles: "Ys," "Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes," and "Xanadu: The Legend of Wind."
For years, Edyia has focused on leveraging its extensive collection of retro gaming intellectual properties (IPs), originally from the old Japanese company TeleNet, to produce current-gen ports and license them for international markets. Now, with this partnership, they are set to accelerate their efforts not only on their owned IPs but on a wide variety of retro game properties. The mission is clear: make classic titles accessible on modern machines, thereby reigniting appreciation for Japan's rich gaming heritage among new audiences.
The three titles included in this licensing agreement are beloved by fans worldwide, embodying the essence of action role-playing games (ARPGs) and traditional RPGs that characterize Nihon Falcom's portfolio. Below is a rundown of the classic games that will soon grace modern consoles:
- - Ys I & II (Released on December 21, 1989 for PC Engine CD-ROM²)

Future Plans
Edyia aims to begin development on these porting projects with the goal of releasing them between fiscal years 2026 and 2027. Unlike a mere remaster, Edyia intends to apply their accumulated knowledge of retro game porting and commercialization to craft products that will truly resonate with fans, ensuring an enjoyable experience for new players as well as seasoned veterans alike.
More information on the specific product lineup and updates will be released as these developments progress. The collaboration represents a significant step toward revitalizing classic gaming experiences and showcases Edyia's commitment to bringing high-quality retro titles to a modern audience.
