SEGULA Technologies Welcomes New CEO

In a strategic move to strengthen its position in the Swedish market, SEGULA Technologies has announced the appointment of Lennart Hasselqvist as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This decision comes amid a backdrop of significant changes and challenges within the engineering sector, prompting a fresh approach under Hasselqvist's leadership.

Hasselqvist brings over 30 years of rich experience in the automotive and engineering industries, having held key roles at renowned organizations like Saab Automobile Powertrain, General Motors Powertrain Europe, and AFRY. His extensive background in advanced technology and research and development positions him well to lead SEGULA as it embarks on an ambitious growth strategy.

Strategic Vision for Growth

In his new role, Hasselqvist aims to pivot SEGULA Technologies towards a more diversified business model by expanding its operational areas within the Swedish market. He emphasizes the importance of adapting the company’s offerings to meet changing industry demands, stating, "I am thrilled to join SEGULA Technologies at such a transformative time. We plan to develop more delivery-based solutions in our own offices, diversify our portfolio, and enhance the value of our offerings. Our goal is to attract local players from sectors like energy, defense, and railways, exploiting synergies that exist among these industries."

With a workforce of approximately 15,000 employees worldwide, SEGULA has a robust presence in over 30 countries. Its expertise spans various sectors, including automotive, rail, energy, aerospace, maritime, and defense. In Sweden, the company primarily serves the automotive and heavy vehicle markets, supporting OEMs in their transition to electric vehicles. The focus is on leveraging talents in vehicle design, software, and integration of complex systems like ADAS and battery packages.

Workforce Expansion and New Committees

As part of the growth strategy, Hasselqvist plans to double the workforce over the next three years, which includes hiring 50 engineers specializing in embedded software, mechanical engineering, and IT by the end of the year. Today, SEGULA Technologies Sweden operates from two offices in Gothenburg and Stockholm, employing almost 200 professionals.

To further aid its strategic decision-making, SEGULA Technologies Sweden will establish an advisory committee to provide guidance on its direction. The initial members of this advisory board will be announced in the coming weeks, a move designed to enhance the company’s strategic insight and bolstering its market positioning.

As SEGULA embarks on this exciting new chapter, the leadership of Lennart Hasselqvist is expected to invigorate the company’s initiatives, setting a course for innovative solutions and strategic collaborations across diverse industrial landscapes. The blend of enhanced capabilities and a visionary leadership approach signals a promising future for SEGULA Technologies within Sweden and beyond.
