Shanghai Electric Launches China's First Humanoid Robot Training Facility



In a significant leap for robotics, Shanghai Electric has officially inaugurated China's first training facility for heterogeneous humanoid robots, known as the Kylin Training Center. Located in Shanghai, this training center is designed to accommodate over 100 humanoid robots, making it one of the largest facilities of its kind in the country. The ambitious goal is to enhance this capacity dramatically, with plans to train up to 1,000 robots for general purposes by 2027.

At the inaugural event, Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group, in collaboration with the National and Local Center for Innovations in Co-Constructed Humanoid Robots, signed a cooperative agreement with ten additional research institutions and enterprises. Expanding Industrial Applications


The training programs offered in this facility will cover a wide range of over ten industries, including equipment manufacturing, automotive production, and home appliances. Additionally, this initiative aims to promote widespread adoption and progressive development of humanoid robots across multiple industries. Since March 2024, the Shanghai Electric Central Research Institute has been collaborating with the National and Local Center to study the deployment of humanoid robots in real-world applications, with a particular focus on high-risk and extreme operational environments in nuclear energy.

The main objective of this effort is to gradually replace traditional labor-intensive, high-risk tasks, thereby enhancing both efficiency and safety in nuclear energy production. This synergy not only propels industrial progress but also contributes to the intelligent transformation of the sector.

Following extensive research and collaboration, the first humanoid robot has been successfully deployed in typical operations within the nuclear industry as of December 1, 2024.
