Canadian Solar Receives Silver Certification for Sustainable Manufacturing Practices in Solar Production

Canadian Solar Achieves Silver Certification in Supply Chain Traceability

Canadian Solar Inc., a leading player in the solar industry, announced a significant milestone in its sustainable manufacturing journey. The company's ingot production facility in Baotou and solar cell manufacturing site in Suqian have both achieved the prestigious Silver Level Certification under the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) for Supply Chain Traceability. This commendable recognition makes Canadian Solar the first manufacturer to receive Silver certification for both ingot and cell production processes under this valued initiative.

The SSI Supply Chain Traceability Standard aims to improve transparency regarding material sourcing and manufacturing processes throughout the solar value chain. By achieving this certification, Canadian Solar reinforces its commitment to accountability and responsible sourcing, addressing concerns regarding sustainability in the renewable energy sector.

Colin Parkin, the Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Solar, emphasized the importance of this milestone. He stated, "Achieving SSI Supply Chain Traceability Certification for our ingot and cell manufacturing facilities marks an important milestone in strengthening transparency and accountability across our supply chain. As the industry continues to evolve, we are committed to advancing responsible manufacturing practices and enhancing confidence in the integrity of solar products worldwide."

In 2025, following Sustainability and Governance (ESG) assessments, the Suqian facility had already secured a Silver certification, while the Baotou facility received Bronze certification. The public can access detailed information about currently certified sites on the official Solar Stewardship Initiative website.

The announcement of this certification coincided with Intersolar Europe in Munich, where Canadian Solar showcased its latest solar technologies and innovations at booth B2.250. This event serves as a platform for Canadian Solar to highlight not just its achievements in manufacturing practices but also its ongoing commitment to pioneering advancements in solar energy solutions.
