Clou Launches Next-Gen Energy Storage System at Solar & Storage Live UK 2025
Clou Launches Aqua-C3.0 Pro at Solar & Storage Live UK 2025
In a significant move for the energy storage industry, Clou, a recognized Tier 1 provider by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), made a striking debut of its latest energy storage innovation, the Aqua-C3.0 Pro. This advanced liquid-cooled energy storage system was showcased for the first time in Europe at the renowned Solar & Storage Live UK event held in Birmingham on September 25, 2025.
This event highlights the increasing importance of energy storage solutions in the UK, where a robust market is growing due to established electricity market mechanisms, supportive policies, and diverse revenue options. As large-scale utility projects continue to expand, the need for commercial and industrial energy storage solutions is experiencing rapid acceleration.
Key Features of Aqua-C3.0 Pro
The Aqua-C3.0 Pro represents a remarkable advancement from its successful predecessor, the Aqua-C2.5. This upgrade comes with significant improvements in multiple areas, notably in capacity and efficiency. Within a single cabinet, the Aqua-C3.0 Pro can provide up to a staggering 6.88 MWh of energy storage, supported by a 600Ah+ ultra-large capacity cell. Notably, its system efficiency, safety, and operational maintenance benefits lead to a reduction in the total cost of ownership by 10.63% compared to earlier models.
Utilizing innovative direct cooling technology, the Aqua-C3.0 Pro features refrigerant directed straight to the cells. This, combined with proprietary Smart Scales balancing technology and Silicon Carbide (SiC) String PCS, allows it to achieve an impressive round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 92.3% and enhances total lifetime energy output by approximately 4%.
Safety remains paramount, with the incorporation of a sophisticated CTR architecture that separates thermal and electrical pathways, which also facilitates directional venting. An evolution in safety features comes from the collaboration with the Corporate Research Center of the Midea Group, introducing the 2.0 ThermoFlux active ventilation explosion-proof system. This system addresses multiple safety concerns with solutions for early warning, extinguishing fires, preventing explosions, and ensuring effective ventilation.
Operational Efficiency
The Aqua-C3.0 Pro also simplifies its operational management. By utilizing a standard 20-foot container, it provides more straightforward transport options. This new architecture reduces the number of components and interfaces needed, streamlining the wiring process through a self-powered auxiliary system. The incorporation of smart scale technology further allows for remote operation and maintenance, minimizing the frequency of manual upkeep and enhancing deployment efficiency. Together, these enhancements optimize operational costs and ensure reliable long-term performance.
In addition to launching the Aqua-C3.0 Pro, Clou presented an extensive product lineup, including the Aqua-C2.5 liquid-cooled energy storage system, the Aqua-E233 CI energy storage system, and Clou EMS. This varied range supports applications across both grid and commercial-industrial sectors.
Expanding Global Presence
Since embarking on its global expansion journey in 2018, Clou has firmly established itself within American markets. The company’s remarkable portfolio includes the completion of several large-scale projects, such as the first large-scale lithium-ion energy storage project in Indiana with a capacity of 110.2 MWh, the largest energy storage power station in Mississippi at 765 MWh, and a 270 MWh project in California known for its compliance standards. Additionally, Clou also executed the largest integrated photovoltaic and energy storage project in South America, reaching 485 MWh in capacity.
The expertise gained in these significant projects in the Americas aims to empower Clou as it participates more deeply in Europe’s energy transition. By embedding its products and solutions into local electricity markets and energy frameworks, alongside ensuring strong partnerships with local teams, the company is poised for significant growth and impact.
With nearly three decades of experience in the electricity sector, Clou is dedicated to providing high-quality, compatible system solutions to meet diverse customer needs. This commitment positions the company as a vital player in shaping the future of energy storage in the UK and beyond.
