Corgi Insurance Strengthens Leadership with Andrew Hefty as Compliance Head
Corgi Insurance Welcomes Andrew Hefty as Head of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
Corgi Insurance, an innovative full-stack insurance carrier designed specifically for startups, has made a pivotal addition to its leadership team with the appointment of Andrew Hefty as Head of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs. This move aligns with the company's mission to maintain high standards of compliance while advancing its technological initiatives.
Andrew Hefty boasts nearly 30 years of legal experience, encompassing military service, private practice, and a substantial role in the federal government. His previous position at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Division of Enforcement highlights his capability to navigate complex legal challenges. During his tenure at the SEC, Hefty excelled as both an Investigative Attorney and Senior Trial Attorney, advocating for the SEC in cases of intricate fraud, insider trading, and misleading securities offerings. Before his time at the SEC, Hefty spent nearly 15 years in private practice, most recently as a partner at an international law firm, where he represented sizable corporations in high-stakes litigation across diverse sectors.
Hefty’s journey into the legal profession began with the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the U.S. Navy. His extensive background positions him well to lead Corgi's compliance strategies while the company expands its reach into new markets and product offerings.
In his new role, Hefty will be responsible for overseeing compliance programs, fostering relationships with regulatory bodies and external counsel, and advising the executive team and Board of Directors on crucial regulatory matters and compliance initiatives. Corgi's CEO and Co-Founder, Nico Laqua, emphasized the importance of maintaining trust while driving innovation, stating, "The future of insurance belongs to companies that can innovate quickly without compromising on trust." According to Laqua, Hefty’s experience at the intersection of law and regulation is invaluable for Corgi as it continues to evolve as an AI-native insurance provider.
Hefty expressed his enthusiasm for joining Corgi and his eagerness to contribute to the company's vision of revolutionizing the insurance industry, which is one of the most regulated sectors globally. He noted, "Corgi is building insurance differently, combining technology with a strong commitment to compliance and governance. I am excited to build a program that supports innovation while earning the trust of customers, regulators, and partners."
This new appointment is a significant step in strengthening Corgi Insurance's viability and leadership as it strives to lay down a foundation for the next generation of insurance solutions. The company continues to invest in the regulatory, operational, and technological infrastructures necessary to navigate today’s challenging insurance landscape successfully.
