Jacobs to Manage Largest Water Recycling Facility in Southern California: A Five-Year Journey Begins
Jacobs Takes Charge of Massive Water Recycling System in Southern California
Jacobs Engineering has taken a significant step towards enhancing water sustainability in Southern California by signing a five-year contract with the West Basin Municipal Water District. This contract designates Jacobs as the operator and maintainer of the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility, along with four additional facilities that form the largest water recycling operation in the United States.
A Pioneering Facility
The Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility has a remarkable output of 40 million gallons of recycled water per day. It stands out as the only facility in the United States capable of producing five distinct types of recycled water. This includes water tailored for various applications, such as irrigation, cooling systems, seawater intrusion barriers, groundwater replenishment, and different pressure settings for boiler feeds. The integral role that these facilities play is highlighted by the fact that they serve nearly 600 connections across municipal, industrial, and commercial sectors.
Greg Fischer, Executive Vice President at Jacobs, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with the West Basin's team.
