The Premiere of 'Blind Judge' on Nippon TV
On September 15th, 2025, at 24:59, Japanese television will unveil a fresh dating variety program titled
'Blind Judge'. This innovative show is made possible by
Eureka Co., Ltd., which operates the dating application
Pairs. The series introduces a novel approach, allowing female contestants to choose potential male partners in a manner reminiscent of how dating apps function, emphasizing the likelihood of finding compatible matches they may not consciously recognize.
The show features popular MC
Atsushi Tamura and co-hosts
Hiromu Honda and
Nobuki Hamakawa from
ROIROM. A star-studded panel including
Yuki Hirako from
Alco & Peace,
Yuchami,
Michopa, and
Makiko Fukuda from
3 Jikan no Heroine, alongside
Miki Inada from
Kurohebi, will engage with a single woman who faces challenges in her dating life.
Throughout the episode, she will meet eight men who have been selected based on the
'Honest Match' feature of Pairs. This feature utilizes specific matching logic to identify those who might be the best fit based on the deeper traits listed in their profiles – a departure from traditional matchmaking.
The format of the show involves several stages of judgment, and the selection process takes place
blindly, wherein the contestant chooses based solely on the information presented in each segment. The first round, the
Album Judge, begins with the contestant viewing photographs without seeing the faces, narrowing it down from eight men to five. The subsequent rounds include
Profile Judge, which focuses on written profiles, followed by
Message Judge that examines text exchanges, leading to the
Telephone Judge where conversations unfold over the phone. Ultimately, the final two candidates are revealed, allowing her to decide who she feels she connects with most closely, based on all accumulated information.
The show’s premise raises intriguing questions about how appearances deceive and whether true compatibility can shine through unexpected interactions. As the MCs provide their comedic insights, viewers are encouraged to speculate on which profiles belong to which men and predict the contestant's final choice, adding layers of engagement to the viewing experience.
To celebrate the show's launch, two exciting campaigns have been organized. The
Feedback Campaign invites viewers to share their thoughts online using the hashtag
#BlindJudge from September 16 at 1:00 to September 21 at 23:59. Selected comments may win an
Amazon gift card worth ¥10,000. Additionally, the
'Blind Judge x Pairs Secret Word Campaign' offers a thrilling opportunity for new members of Pairs who register during the broadcast period. By entering a keyword revealed in a commercial, they can grab an
Amazon gift card worth ¥1,000, with a total of 800 giveaways up for grabs.
The vibrant interaction between participants and real-time audience involvement marks 'Blind Judge' as a uniquely entertaining take on contemporary dating endeavors. It's a show that promises to spark conversations while reminding viewers that the essence of connection often lies beyond surface-level perceptions.
Be sure to catch
'Blind Judge' every Monday night on
Nippon TV, and look out for updates on the show's official channels for more information about upcoming episodes and promotional events!
