Join the Fight Against Lupus: NYC and Global Walk Set for October 24, 2026

The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA), the foremost private funder of lupus research globally, is gearing up for an impactful day as the Walk with Us to Cure Lupus returns on October 24, 2026. This year’s event promises to unite supporters, advocates, and researchers alike in an effort to make strides toward a cure for lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease affecting millions without a known remedy.

The in-person event will take place at the Intrepid Museum in New York City, while enthusiasts from all corners of the world can join the Global Walk in solidarity, marked by a livestream event on the LRA’s Instagram (@LupusResearchAlliance). This collective gathering aims to raise essential funds to push forward lupus research initiatives.

The Importance of the Walk

Over the past twenty years, the Walk with Us to Cure Lupus events have amassed over $46 million in support of lupus research—an incredible feat made possible through the dedication of walkers, fundraisers, and community advocates. Albert T. Roy, President and CEO of the LRA, emphasized the significance of community efforts, stating, “The progress we’re seeing in lupus research today is possible because of a community that never stops pushing for answers.” The contributions of countless individuals fuel discoveries that can redefine the lives of those living with lupus.

About Lupus

Often described as a complex autoimmune disease, lupus causes the body’s immune system to mistakenly attack its own tissues, affecting vital organs such as the kidneys, heart, and brain. It significantly affects women, particularly those between the ages of 15 and 45, and disproportionately impacts minority groups, including Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian communities.
