Scientific Games Launches SCiQ Technology Enhancements for NC Education Lottery Retailers

Scientific Games Brings SCiQ Technology to North Carolina Education Lottery

Scientific Games has announced the rollout of its advanced SCiQ retail technology at North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) retailers, a strategic move aimed at boosting the retail environment for Scratch-Off games. With the deployment of 1,000 SCiQ units across North Carolina, the initiative reflects the Lottery's commitment to improving operational efficiency for retailers and enhancing the overall player experience.

During the initiative, notable figures from the NCEL, including Scottie Williamson, the Raleigh Regional Manager, were present for the installation at a retailer. The implementation of SCiQ is expected to yield immediate benefits, such as improved operational practices and enhanced reporting efficiency. Furthermore, lottery players will get to enjoy new digital displays that aim to enrich the ordering experience by providing real-time access to information about available games.

The SCiQ system offers sophisticated inventory management capabilities that leverage Scientific Games' SciTrak predictive ordering system. This integration aims to create supply chain efficiencies that can lead to increased sales for Scratch-Off games. Statistical data showcases that the NCEL’s Scratch-Off games generated over $2.9 billion in retail sales during the fiscal year 2024, solidifying NCEL’s position amongst the global leaders in instant game lotteries.

North Carolina Education Lottery CEO Mark Michalko expressed enthusiasm regarding the SCiQ rollout. He stated, “We’re thrilled to introduce SCiQ to our retailers statewide. This technology will provide them with a streamlined process for managing and selling NCEL Scratch-Off games, alongside benefiting education within our state.

As the first of its kind technology specifically designed for managing lottery categories in retail environments, SCiQ equips retailers with an array of features. These include fully integrated digital menu boards for product display, automated inventory management to significantly reduce instances of stock shortages, and real-time sales and market basket performance reports tailored to specific stores. Additionally, SCiQ offers increased security through the use of locked bins that automatically dispense tickets, thereby reducing the potential for product theft.

In his comments on the initiative, Michael Martin, VP of Retail Solutions for Scientific Games, praised NCEL’s vision for leveraging technology to streamline the management and sales processes of Scratch-Off games. He remarked, “Scientific Games is excited to enhance our instant game partnership with NCEL through SCiQ, and we look forward to collaborating closely with NCEL retailers to ensure a seamless selling experience for Scratch-Offs.”

Apart from the SCiQ technology, Scientific Games also provides NCEL with a range of instant games and manages the products through its performance-driven Enhanced Partnership program at a facility located near Raleigh, North Carolina.
