TEMSA Expands Presence in Lithuania with 15 Electric Bus Delivery

TEMSA Expands Electric Bus Fleet in Lithuania

In a significant move to strengthen its footprint in Europe, TEMSA has successfully delivered 15 of its MD9 electriCITY electric buses to Lithuania. This delivery marks an important milestone as Lithuania emerges as a leader in public transport electrification. The ceremony took place in Kaunas and was attended by notable representatives from the European Commission, local government, and TEMSA's CEO, Evren Güzel.

Commitment to Sustainable Mobility

Lithuania has established itself as a frontrunner in the electrification of public transport, with electric buses accounting for approximately 52% of new bus registrations in 2025. TEMSA's delivery aligns with the country's strategic initiatives to transition towards zero-emission public transport systems. The electric buses will operate under UAB Kautra, a prominent public transport operator in Lithuania that has been a valued partner of TEMSA for over two decades.

Güzel highlighted TEMSA's commitment to adaptability and innovation in mobility. "At TEMSA, we focus on understanding the diverse needs of our customers and markets. This delivery is just one step in our ongoing efforts to provide tailored transportation solutions that address real-world requirements," he stated.

A Partnership for the Future

The partnership with UAB Kautra extends beyond vehicle deliveries; it encompasses the development of necessary infrastructure and charging solutions. Linas Skardžiukas, CEO of Kautra, emphasized that the success of their electric transport strategy relies on a comprehensive approach, integrating vehicle procurement with ecosystem management.

TEMSA's MD9 electriCITY buses are designed for urban mobility, featuring a length of 9.5 meters and a powerful 250 kW electric motor. With these attributes, they promise efficient and environmentally friendly transport solutions, contributing to significant reductions in CO₂ emissions—each electric bus can reduce approximately 650 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over a decade, equivalent to the emissions of about 360 passenger cars.

Further Regional Impact

Following the recent delivery, TEMSA is set to expand its operations with additional deliveries slated throughout 2026. This expansion will increase TEMSA's operational presence in Lithuania to a total of 321 vehicles. The company's growth trajectory is indicative of its strategy to deepen its market presence, having recently entered six new European markets, including Czechia and Norway.

As TEMSA continues to adapt its product offerings based on market feedback, the potential for further innovation remains substantial. Their commitment to developing in-house battery systems and investing in charging technology is setting them apart as a proactive player in the evolving transportation sector.

In addition to Lithuania, TEMSA has recently delivered ten units of its LD SB E model—Europe's pioneering intercity electric coach—to Portugal. This signifies not only their expansion in product diversity but also their aspiration to lead in the electric mobility sector across Europe.

With a robust performance in 2025 and strategic advancements, TEMSA is poised to effectively contribute to sustainable transport solutions throughout Europe, responding adeptly to the pressing needs of urban mobility and ensuring a greener future for public transportation.
