AIRoA Hosts VLA Workshop at ICRA 2026
The AI Robot Association (AIRoA) is excited to announce that it will host a workshop at the highly anticipated International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2026, taking place in Vienna, Austria, from June 1 to June 5, 2026. The workshop is titled
"From Data to Decisions: VLA Pipelines for Real Robots" and aims to explore the integration of vision, language, and action (VLA) models in practical robotic applications.
Workshop Overview
The workshop will be a full-day event, featuring two prominent tracks: a paper session involving presentations and posters, and an international mobile manipulation competition utilizing approximately 10,000 hours of real robot data.
The robot data used for this competition is sourced from the National Research and Development Agency (NEDO) in Japan, showcasing the importance of real-world data in advancing robotic capabilities.
Challenges in VLA Models
In recent years, there has been significant growth in the development of VLA models that enable robots to perform a variety of tasks based on natural language instructions. However, challenges remain in terms of the entire pipeline design, which includes data collection, curation, learning, evaluation, safety, and reliability under real-world conditions. Current best practices and common standards in this field are still under development. AIRoA aims to bridge this gap through their
