About Girls Meet STEM
The Girls Meet STEM program is an initiative by the Shintaro Yamada D&I Foundation that collaborates with universities and businesses to create a tour-based program. The objective is to provide opportunities that broaden the horizons of middle and high school girls by allowing them to interact with STEM professionals and students, thus exposing them to real working environments.
In the 2025 fiscal year alone, 31 universities, 8 junior colleges, and 112 companies across Japan are collaborating in this effort. Participating institutions include renowned universities such as the University of Tokyo, Kyushu University, Keio University, Nagoya University, and many more. Furthermore, some leading companies like Kao, Toyota Motor Corporation, Rakuten Group, and Panasonic Connect are also involved.
As a participating university, Gannon University contributes valuable insights on overseas education and global experiences. Through these engagements, GMS strives to provide female students with authentic role models in the STEM fields, facilitating a deeper understanding of their potential futures in such careers.
