Chrono24, a premier online marketplace for luxury watches, has announced the appointment of Jose Gastel as its new Chief Executive Officer. Gastel previously served as the Chief Growth Officer where he successfully accelerated various growth initiatives, particularly focusing on expanding the company’s presence in the U.S. market.

Founded in 2003, Chrono24 is recognized as one of the world’s largest platforms for buying and selling luxury watches. Based in Karlsruhe, Germany, the marketplace features over 600,000 watches from more than 3,000 vendors across 150 countries, attracting nearly 9 million visitors per month. This robust network not only strengthens the marketplace but also fosters a vibrant global community passionate about watches.

As Gastel steps into his role as CEO, he draws on over 15 years of international leadership experience in digital platform scaling. His most recent position was a senior executive role at Nextdoor, a community-based platform that has surpassed 100 million registered users. His career journey began with McKinsey & Company and has included major roles at notable platforms such as Domestika, Houzz, and Zalora.

The Board of Directors, represented by Chairman Tobias Hartmann, commended Gastel’s leadership and strategic insights since his joining Chrono24 in July 2025. Hartmann stated, “Jose has demonstrated exceptional leadership since joining the company. He quickly understood the business complexities and has steadily guided the company toward its objectives. His appointment as CEO stands as a testament to his remarkable contributions so far.”
