Kisumaster 2025: A Unique Fishing Tournament for Coastal Preservation

On May 18, the beautiful Sagami Bay will host the long-awaited return of the Kisumaster fishing tournament after six years. Organized by Riviera Resort, a prominent company in Kanagawa Prefecture, this competitive yet environmentally conscious event is open to anglers of all skill levels, from beginners to veterans. The sole target of this tournament is the kiss fish, known for its small size but significant challenges in catching. Participants will not only experience the thrill of fishing but also take part in efforts to collect floating ocean debris, contributing to the protection of our seas.

Riviera Resort, directed by President Akio Kobayashi, has a history of engaging in environmental initiatives since launching the "Riviera Future Creation Project" in 2006. This event underscores their commitment to preserving marine environments amid alarming global statistics about ocean plastic waste, highlighted by the World Economic Forum's warnings that plastic in oceans could outweigh fish by 2050. Therefore, Kisumaster 2025 introduces rules encouraging fishermen to collect floating plastic debris during their fishing activities, making it an innovative and responsible fishing competition.

Following the tournament, participants are invited to a celebratory party held at the stunning Riviera Seabornia Marina in Miura City, Kanagawa, where guests can enjoy breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji. This gathering not only honors the efforts of fishing participants but also fosters community connections among attendees, enhancing the overall experience of this special day.

Eligibility Criteria

- Participation with non-obstructive recreational boats, cruisers, or portable boats (excluding kayaks, SUP, and rowing boats)
- Commitment to collecting oceanic floating plastic waste

Tournament Entry Fees

- Teams with pleasure boats or cruisers: 16,000 JPY (tax included) for up to four participants
- Teams with portable boats: 8,000 JPY (tax included) for up to two participants

Party Registration Fee

- 4,400 JPY (tax included) per person
