With over 220,000 participants from more than 2,000 institutions and 100 countries, this year's competition set a new record, reflecting the growing global emphasis on developing talent in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

Ritchie (Honghua) Peng, President of Huawei's ICT Strategy and Business Development Department, articulated this commitment during the ceremony, highlighting how competition can serve as an effective pedagogical tool to tackle real-world challenges. He emphasized that participants not only showcased their technical prowess but also demonstrated remarkable dedication and curiosity.

Looking to the future, Huawei announced a new AI operator development path focused on enhancing the skills of young developers and encouraging engagement with cutting-edge technologies through task-based challenges. Dr. Shafika Isaacs, the acting director of UNESCO's Institute for Information Technologies in Education, commended the collaboration between UNESCO and Huawei, celebrating the participants' impressive performances. She pointed out that the future of AI hinges on partnerships across governments, academics, and industries and acknowledged the concerted efforts undertaken in regions such as the Arab world and Central Asia to bolster educational frameworks.

This year’s competition featured fierce contests across three main categories: Practice, Innovation, and Programming, with a total of 18 exceptional teams from eight countries honored with Grand Prizes. Notable winners included:

• - Grand Prize in the Practice Network Track: Teams from Algeria, Brazil, Nigeria, and Shenzhen Polytechnic University.
• - Grand Prize in the Practice Cloud Track: Teams from Egypt, Algeria, Southern Forestry and Technology University, and Kenya.
• - Grand Prize in the Practice Computing Track: Teams from Egypt, Henan Institute of Economics and Trade, Dominican Republic, and Algeria.

Moreover, special awards recognized outstanding contributions beyond technical excellence. The Women in Tech award celebrated seven all-female teams from Azerbaijan, Nigeria, Kenya, China, and Bahrain, while the Green Development award was earned by teams from Ghana and China. Additionally, ten individuals from China received Fast Passes to access the Huawei Future Business Leader Track, aiming to nurture future leaders in the technology space.

Promoting Education Beyond Borders

The award ceremony was attended by diplomatic representatives from 11 countries, including ambassadors and consuls, who personally presented awards to their countrys' participants. The grand finale also hosted a summit on accelerating educational transformation through AI. This gathering of educators and industry experts centered on the crucial interplay between AI and educational innovation, discussing best practices for effective collaboration.

At this summit, Huawei unveiled its AI Course Solution for the ICT Academy, providing universities with a comprehensive AI learning track designed to support massive talent development in the tech landscape. Furthermore, the Skills Development Report outlined actionable insights and recommendations for nine Central Asian and Caucasus countries, aimed at guiding talent development policies and industry standards.
