Understanding the SDGs Public-Private Partnership Platform
Established in 2018 by the Cabinet Office, the SDGs Public-Private Partnership Platform has emerged as Japan's largest initiative focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while revitalizing local areas. The platform currently boasts 8,386 members, comprising 1,289 local agencies and ministries and 7,097 private businesses and organizations as of April 21, 2026. It serves as a hub for presenting regional issues alongside relevant solutions from businesses, paving the way for collaborative projects to address specific local challenges.
The platform employs various strategies, including online matching capabilities, seminars, and face-to-face events designed to enhance understanding between local governments and private sector entities. These practical resources help create new avenues for collaboration.
