Huawei Connect 2025: Building High-Quality Data Centers for AI Era

Huawei Connect 2025: Pioneering Data Centers for the AI Era

On September 19, 2025, the much-anticipated Huawei Connect 2025 event kicked off in Shanghai, marking a significant milestone in the tech industry. During this event, Huawei Digital Power hosted a summit focused on data center infrastructure. This gathering brought together over 500 business leaders, technical experts, and ecosystem partners from the global data center sector, all eager to discuss the latest technologies and best practices related to eco-friendly and low-emission digital infrastructure in the age of industrial intelligence.

Bob He, vice president of Huawei Digital Power, emphasized the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in data centers during his keynote address. He explained how AI-driven data centers (AI DC) are evolving into "computing factories" in response to the dramatic increase in computational power demands posed by AI applications. The efficient and seamless transfer of power from the grid to processing chips requires streamlined conversion connections and innovations in power architecture. Furthermore, a hybrid temperature management system that balances air and liquid cooling is essential for adapting to the dynamic requirements of AI services.

Huawei is committed to investing more in research and development (R&D) in critical areas such as power management and temperature control. The goal is to create highly reliable, flexible, and sustainable data centers tailored to meet the needs of the AI era. Notably, Huawei’s innovative solutions aim to accelerate the development of dependable infrastructures that can accommodate the rapid advancements in AI technology.

The urgency of building data centers equipped for AI was underscored when Steve Kim, president of marketing, sales, and services for critical power and data centers at Huawei Digital Power, highlighted that fundamental AI models are driving digital transformation processes across various sectors. This transformation is projected to significantly increase the number of gigawatt-class clusters worldwide, with a forecasted growth to 112 gigawatts in new AI-centric data centers over the next five years.

In response to the multifaceted challenges of security, supply, evolution in IT technologies, and energy consumption in the era of smart computing, Huawei introduced guidelines for constructing AI RAS data centers. Using cutting-edge technology and architectural solutions, Huawei offers comprehensive AI DC systems, including reference designs suitable for diverse applications, reliable products, and a supportive global ecosystem, thereby enabling organizations to harness the vast opportunities brought forth by AI technology.

During the conference, Huawei unveiled its latest white paper titled, "AIDC Facility Reference Design White Paper," which provides systematic guidelines for standardized design and construction of AI data centers. This document meticulously analyzed the challenges faced by high-density cabinets in AI data centers, focusing on power supply, distribution, and cooling strategies. It also proposed design suggestions across four key dimensions: architectural structure, power distribution, cooling systems, and integrated cabling.

The Digital Power subsidiary also showcased innovative, eco-friendly solutions aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, electrification, and achieving low-emission objectives within power systems. As technology continues to evolve, Huawei believes that the strategies and value of artificial intelligence are transitioning from mere quantitative growth to qualitative transformation. Ongoing investments in innovation and the integration of digital technologies with power electronics are essential for building robust foundations for intelligent computing systems, enabling significant computational power extraction from every watt of energy.

Finally, this collaborative effort reinforces Huawei’s commitment to advancing a greener future. By partnering with industry stakeholders, Huawei aims for greater success in the development of smart computing infrastructures that will help pave the way toward a sustainable tomorrow.
