Meijer Introduces a New Grocery Store Experience in Rochester Hills

New Meijer Grocery Store Opens in Rochester Hills

Today, May 6, 2026, marked a significant development for the residents of Rochester Hills as Meijer formally opened a new grocery store spanning 47,000 square feet. This store, strategically located at 1495 N. Rochester Rd., aims to provide a streamlined shopping experience tailored to community needs while emphasizing value and convenience.

The new Meijer Grocery store is part of the retailer's expansion plan and represents the fourth of its grocery format within the Midwest. This facility stands out with its compact footprint, which focuses on delivering essential grocery categories, making it an ideal stop for both quick visits and extensive shopping trips. Shoppers will find a variety of products ranging from fresh produce and meats to bakery items, deli services, and health and beauty products, all aimed at satisfying everyday grocery needs.

Executive Chairman Hank Meijer expressed excitement about the store's opening, noting, "We're excited to bring our streamlined shopping experience to more customers in Rochester Hills for added convenience closer to home. In addition to convenience, we know value is more important now than ever before, and our team will continue working diligently to ensure customers will find quality items at the best prices."

To enhance the shopping experience, Meijer has introduced several modern conveniences, including digital shopping tools like the Shop & Scan feature, which allows customers to scan items with their mobile devices, thus simplifying the checkout process. Moreover, the store has partnered with the Flashfood app to offer discounts on surplus food, providing not just savings but also reducing food waste.

The Rochester Hills location will also support home delivery and pickup services, making shopping more accessible than ever. In addition to these conveniences, Meijer customers can earn rewards through the mPerks program, allowing them to save more with every purchase.

A highlight of Meijer stores includes their exclusive labels, namely Frederik's by Meijer and True Goodness. These brands encompass high-quality products at competitive prices, catering to the growing demand for healthy options among consumers. Frederik's offers a range of innovative flavors, while True Goodness focuses on providing healthier products by eliminating over 100 unwanted ingredients.

As the store opened its doors this morning, Grocery Store Director Cynthia Griggs and her team warmly welcomed the community, celebrating with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Demonstrating a commitment to community welfare, the team announced $15,000 donations to local organizations, including Leader Dogs for the Blind and the Rainbow Connection, which helps children with severe illnesses fulfill their wishes.

Rick Keyes, President and CEO of Meijer, remarked on the company's dedication to community investment, stating, "Investing in the communities we serve is a top priority, and we begin that process long before the doors of a new store even open. We look forward to seeing this store further our purpose of enriching lives in the communities we serve."

Meijer prioritizes community involvement, contributing at least 6% of its annual profits to charitable endeavors. Through initiatives like the Simply Give program, the company has raised over $100 million for food banks throughout the Midwest since its inception in 2008. The Rochester Hills store's first pantry partner will be the Rochester Area Neighborhood House Food Pantry, which will receive benefits from Meijer's spring fundraising campaign running until June 27.

Accessibility remains a focal point for Meijer as well, with features such as height-adjustable changing tables in family restrooms and complimentary access to Aira, an app that provides navigation assistance for visually impaired customers.

Meijer operates over 500 locations across the Midwest, providing a unique one-stop shopping experience that combines a diverse range of products with a commitment to customer service and community engagement. As they continue to grow, Meijer aims to enhance the grocery shopping landscape while ensuring their customers have access to quality items at affordable prices.
