Florida Atlantic University (FAU) has recently achieved a significant milestone by being designated an Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) University by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). Impressively, feedback revealed that 92.1% of students feel that FAU supports the commercialization of technology, while a notable 72% to 80% of community members agree that the university positively affects the local economy. This demonstrates a broad recognition of FAU’s innovative role.
As part of its commitment, FAU has launched several initiatives, including the President's Internship Program for Community Impact aimed at promoting civic engagement and workforce readiness through paid internships in the nonprofit and government sectors. Over 100 internships were created in its inaugural semester, showcasing the university's proactive approach to community development and student empowerment.
Through the IEP program, APLU assists universities in understanding and enhancing their contributions towards economic and community development significantly.
