Explore the Future of Fashion at CCBT's Upcoming Workshop
The Civic Creative Base Tokyo (CCBT) is excited to announce its
Future Ideations Camp Vol. 8, set to run from
August 7 to 11, 2026. This engaging workshop invites participants to envision the future of fashion 30 years from now through creative collaboration and expert guidance.
For a dedicated five days, around
20 selected participants will immerse themselves in the world of fashion as an interface to ponder what lies ahead. Attendees will engage in lectures and hands-on workshops led by a diverse roster of experts who boast backgrounds ranging from engineering to anthropology, thus offering multifaceted insights into the complexities of fashion development.
During the workshop, participants will not only learn various thinking and expression methods but will also work in groups to create innovative solutions addressing the future of fashion. The culmination of their efforts will be shared with the public through exhibitions and talk events, allowing the larger community to witness the creative processes and outcomes.
Under the directorship of
Yasushi Ashida, a fashion theorist and professor at Kyoto Seika University, participants will uncover the intricate layers of fashion. Ashida's extensive experience and scholarly background will guide discussions towards examining fashion not simply as personal expression, but as a woven fabric of complex networks involving numerous stakeholders from production to consumption.
What to Expect from the Camp
Fashion serves as a profound example of how individual choices are intertwined with broader societal issues. The
Future Ideations Camp will challenge participants to think critically about the macro contexts surrounding their clothing choices—pressing questions include:
What will we wear in 30 years? How might our clothing reflect the society we live in? Participants will engage in dialogues that bridge imagination with practical application, drawing connections between personal identity and the larger global landscape.
Through collaborative projects, they will explore what the identity of fashion might mean in a future shaped by technological advancements, sustainability, and shifts in societal values. With a variety of themes such as clothing source materials, labor in production, and the implications of design choices, participants will come away equipped with the tools to effect change.
Who Can Participate?
Applications are currently being accepted until
July 6, 2026. The selection process is open to anyone aged 18 and above, particularly those who are eager to forge new expressions and are active creators in fields like fashion, design, and technology. This camp is designed for inspired individuals ready to challenge conventions and collaborate with peers to experiment with innovative creativity.
Interested individuals need to commit to all program activities throughout the workshop duration and must have a demonstrable background in research or creative pursuits. Successful applicants will be notified by
