Tokyo's Innovative Business Expansion Event
Tokyo is taking a bold step towards fostering innovation within its content industry by hosting a unique event titled "Content Utilization Promotion Seminar and Inter-industry Matching Exchange". This initiative, organized by the non-profit organization Visual Industry Promotion Organization (VIPO), aims to create new business opportunities by connecting content enterprises with a variety of industries.
Event Overview
The seminars are scheduled to take place on October 6th and 7th, 2026, providing essential insights into successful content business strategies. Following these enriching sessions, an online networking exchange will occur on December 10th and 11th, offering a platform where companies from various sectors can engage and foster collaborations.
Seminar Details
The first topic titled "The Power of Choosing Content and the Appeal of Selected Content" will be covered by Mr. Hirotaka Nanba, the former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Kodansha's light novel department. This session will discuss how to choose the right content suitable for products amidst the sea of available options. Participants will learn about the factors that influence content selection, including popularity, character appeal, and the critical viewpoint of customers—an essential consideration for successful negotiations and collaborations.
In the second session, Mr. Kyo Oda, CEO of SSS LLC, will present "From Waiting for Licenses to Active IP: Learning from Tohoku Zunko and Zundamon’s 360° Promotion". This session aims to share strategies for transforming local intellectual property from passive licenses into active participant-driven projects. Oda will discuss practical methods of engagement that can continuously boost sales, recognition, and community involvement using examples including cost-effective small licenses.
Inter-industry Matching Exchange
The Inter-industry Matching Exchange will feature scheduled discussions allowing content companies to meet potential partners from other sectors. Participants are encouraged to register early as space is limited. Each participating company can have up to five scheduled discussions, with 25-minute slots designed to maximize engagement efficiency.
This online event leverages the Zoom platform, making it easily accessible for all participants as long as they have the necessary setup to join. The event will be open to small and medium-sized companies based in Tokyo's content industry and various other industries from outside Tokyo, excluding companies solely seeking sales outreach.
Importance of the Initiative
This initiative, supported by the Tokyo metropolitan government's budget for the 2026 fiscal year, aims to broaden the utilization of content across different sectors, thereby facilitating growth and synergy between the content industry and other business sectors. By fostering these business connections, Tokyo aims to enhance the overall landscape of content production and utilization.
