Elementary Students Experience Game Management with Blue Sharks in Koto City!

Experiencing the Game Management: A Unique Opportunity for Kids

On April 12, 2025, an exciting initiative unfolded in Koto City as sixth graders delved into the realm of rugby by participating in the 'Dream Project' orchestrated by Sumitomo Realty and Blue Sharks. This collaboration aimed not only to enrich children's experiences but also to strengthen community ties through sports.

The 'Dream Project' targeted sixth graders in Koto City and provided them with the extraordinary opportunity to assist in game management for a match in the JAPAN RUGBY LEAGUE ONE held at Yume-no-Shima Stadium. This initiative showcases the commitment of Sumitomo Realty and the Blue Sharks to support the development of local youth and foster a love for sports and teamwork.

A Purposeful Initiative:
The roots of this initiative stem from a desire to provide valuable experiences to children while collaborating with local organizations. As part of the effort to connect with the community, both Sumitomo Realty and Blue Sharks engage in various local events throughout the year. They not only strive to enrich the local sports culture but also aim to instill a sense of pride and attachment among the youth.

During the project, two chosen sixth graders, following a lottery held in collaboration with the Koto City Board of Education, underwent an orientation at the Ariake Garden—a multifaceted commercial facility that supports family-friendly initiatives. After receiving training, they were ready to immerse themselves in practical roles during the game day.

Trial and Triumph:
The match day brought a whirlwind of responsibilities including seat cleaning, merchandise sales support, distributing flyers, and greeting players post-match. Both students took on these roles with dedication and joy, ultimately reflecting the responsibilities and satisfaction that come with such tasks. Initially nervous, they found themselves smiling as they engaged with attendees, and their excitement culminated in a profound sense of accomplishment by the day's end.

Voices of the Participants:
Shintaro Takayama, one of the sixth graders, shared, "I was surprised by how difficult it was to wring out the mop water! It made me appreciate all of the unseen efforts that contribute to making events successful. At first, I was nervous, but it felt incredibly rewarding to hear attendees say 'thank you.' This experience taught me the importance of gratitude and working collaboratively with a team. I will always remember to appreciate those who support us, no matter where I am. Thank you for this invaluable experience!"

Akira Majima added, "Distributing flyers and managing the merchandise booth in the heat was tough, but it was wonderful to receive support from the players. Having to say goodbye to attendees with high-fives was really fun and will become a cherished memory. I used to think work was hard, but now I realize that challenges can be tackled with teamwork. I hope to take on even more challenges in the future! Thank you!"

Comments from Officials:
Representatives from both Sumitomo Realty and Blue Sharks expressed excitement about the project. A spokesperson from Sumitomo Realty noted, "Creating opportunities for local children to engage with nearby facilities and sports teams is crucial for their future. We believe that initiatives like this foster a love for the community and contribute to sustainable city development. We are committed to continuing these efforts."

In turn, a representative from Blue Sharks remarked, "Through rugby, we are imparting the importance of supporting others and the joy of teamwork to local children. Offering operational experiences not only promotes sports but also embodies our commitment to being a socially responsible club that grows alongside the community. We are dedicated to supporting local youth and advancing community contributions through sports."

Both Sumitomo Realty and Blue Sharks are resolute in their mission to continue supporting the future of children in the region, deepening their collaboration for sustainable community growth. This project aligns with the principles of the 'April Dream' initiative by PR TIMES, where participating companies embody the dreams and aspirations of local communities.
