Airin Mount Fuji Eraser Launch
On February 23, 2026, coinciding with Japan's official Mountain Fuji Day, Plus Inc. will release the limited edition Airin Mount Fuji Eraser set. This special product invites users to enjoy the act of erasing while creating a unique depiction of Mount Fuji, reminiscent of the old ¥1,000 banknote design.
The Airin Mount Fuji Eraser originates from the beloved Airin series, celebrated for its unique edge and enjoyable erasing experience. The new concept behind this eraser encourages the delight in the erasing process itself, transforming it into a creative exercise.
This collaborative project with the Tokyo Communication Arts College embodies the essence of student creativity. Out of over 50 ideas contributed by students, the design inspired by the old ¥1,000 yen note successfully stood out and made its way into production. The design focuses on Mount Fuji as seen on the reverse side of the note, revealing a captivating image as the eraser is used.
The product is packaged in a small box designed to resemble the old ¥1,000 bill, featuring two different erasers within. These charming erasers make wonderful gifts or souvenirs, available for a suggested retail price of ¥638 (including tax).
Highlighted Features
Unique Student-Inspired Product
The Airin Fuji Eraser is a result of a successful collaboration between Plus Inc. and the Tokyo Communication Arts College, marking their first partnership. The design celebrating the iconic Mount Fuji from the old ¥1,000 yen note showcases the innovative spirit of the students.
Replicating the Old ¥1,000 Note
The old ¥1,000 yen notes issued between 2004 and 2024 feature the famous portrait of Hideyo Noguchi on the front and the serene image of Mount Fuji, reflecting on a lake, embellished with cherry blossoms on the back. The body of the eraser is dark green, with a depiction of the inverted Mount Fuji on one side of the box, allowing users to experience the familiar design of the banknote as they erase.
Unique Packaging and Fun Interaction
The eraser set is carefully nestled within a box resembling the old ¥1,000 banknote, featuring two erasers with different designs. Once a user returns a used eraser, a window shaped like Mount Fuji reveals a completed picture from the reverse side of the note.
Dual-Layer Structure Promoting Erasing Excitement
As the eraser is used, its corners wear down, culminating in a mountain shape that unveils the snowy peak of Mount Fuji. Users will enjoy the transformation, crafting their personal interpretation of Mount Fuji as they erase.
Innovative Eraser Material
The Mount Fuji Eraser utilizes the same eraser resin as the long-time favorite Airin product launched in 1989. The inclusion of porous ceramic powder generates numerous edges, ensuring a light and comfortable erasing experience, consistent with the brand's signature message of enjoying every edge while erasing.
