TACHIKAWA ART SHOW: An Artistic Encounter



From July 2 to July 15, 2025, the TACHIKAWA ART SHOW will be held at the Isetan Tachikawa Art Gallery, located on the 8th floor of the iconic department store. This exhibition aims to elevate the art literacy of the West Tokyo region, particularly focusing on the communities of Kokubunji, Kunitachi, and Tachikawa.

This remarkable event brings together three esteemed galleries: Korijima Gallery, ZEIT-FOTO Kunitachi, and Hatonomori Art, all of which contribute to the vibrant artistic tapestry of the area. The selection of artworks, picked through a lens of refined aesthetic judgment, promises to resonate deeply with every viewer, inspiring narratives and ideologies that transcend conventional Western notions of value.

The exhibition features an enticing mix of perspectives, showcasing a rich and chaotic blend of artworks that encourages visitors to engage with the profound beauty of art in a highly personal and global context.

Featured Artworks


The artworks on display include:
  • - Korijima Gallery showcases works by Toshiro Korijima, Yoshizaburo Kojima, Hiroki Oda, Shuji Kawai, and more, with notable pieces such as Kojima's "Pathway" (circa 1940) and Kawai's "Skating Fun" (1923).
  • - ZEIT-FOTO Kunitachi presents stunning photography by Eugene Atget, Brassai, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Man Ray, and others, with vintage prints like Man Ray's "Elsa Schiaparelli" (circa 1930) and Atget's "Greengrocer's Stall, Rouen" (1907).
  • - Hatonomori Art features works from contemporary artists such as Sadamasa Motonaga and Kumimi Miyawaki, showcasing pieces like Motonaga's "Untitled" (1978) and Miyawaki's "Moment" (1964).

Special Feature: Banksy and Contemporary Graffiti Artists


In addition to the highlighted collections, the second venue will focus on graffiti art, spotlighting works by Banksy and other contemporary artists, including Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, and Invader. This special feature presents an exciting opportunity to explore the world of street art, presenting iconic pieces like Banksy's "HAPPY CHOPPER" (2003) and KAWS's "SHARE" (2021).
