Incredible Guest Lineup for SSFF & ASIA 2026 Opening Ceremony

The Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA) 2026, recognized by the Academy Awards, is set to kick off on May 25, 2026, with a dazzling Opening Ceremony featuring an impressive range of guests. Among them will be acclaimed filmmaker Takumi Saito, who is producing the short film Ramen Maro: Where Our Paths Crossed, which will be screened in the Culinary Program focusing on the memories of food.

Additionally, Shogo Hamada will take the stage, known for his role in the world premiere of Just Another Laundry (Shirokuma), produced under the ACTORS STAND project led by Avex Management Agency. This will mark the first short film to debut in this highly anticipated creative initiative.

Visitors to the festival can also look forward to a special award presented to the remarkable TV anime World Is Dancing, based on Kazuto Mihara's innovative interpretation blending traditional arts and animation. The anime's leading voice actor, Yumiri Hanamori, will also be in attendance at the Opening Ceremony.

The world premiere screening of World Is Dancing, along with a talk event with the production staff, is scheduled for June 6, promising an incredible experience for attendees.

A Cultural Landmark

The ceremony will be held at MOON Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives, an experiential cultural museum designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma, located in the newly opened Takanawa Gateway City. Following the red carpet event, the ceremony will highlight various awards, including the Takanawa Gateway City Award and the J-WAVE Sound of Cinema Award, along with announcements for new projects and screenings of short films.
