AEON Announces Winners of the 2025 English Word Contest for Students

AEON’s Inspiring English Word Contest



AEON, headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has always been at the forefront of language education since its establishment in 1973. This time, it has launched a unique initiative to engage its students in selecting a word that embodies the spirit of 2025.

From October 14 to November 30, 2025, AEON invited students from AEON and AEON Kids to share their thoughts and reasons behind choosing a word that highlights their personal experiences or aspirations for the coming years. The campaign aimed to not only stimulate students' English skills but also to cultivate their creativity and self-expression.

The contest saw entries from many enthusiastic students, each with their unique stories and reasoning behind their selected words. After careful deliberation by AEON’s teacher trainers, the winners were revealed in two categories: the general category for high school students and the kids category.

Contest Results


In the general category, the word “transform” was crowned the Grand Prix winner, resonating with the spirit of change and personal growth. Meanwhile, in the kids category, “confidence” emerged as the standout choice, embodying the importance of self-belief in young learners.

The runners-up were also recognized for their exceptional contributions; in the general category, “encounter” (a testament to new experiences) won the second place, and in the kids category, “newborn” (symbolizing new beginnings) was awarded the same.

These selections reflect AEON’s commitment to enhancing global communication skills among its students and dismantling language barriers. By fostering an environment that encourages exploration and dialogue, AEON continues to empower learners of all ages.
