ORENDA WORLD Supports Design Project at Amakusa Industrial High School for Local Historical Exhibition

ORENDA WORLD Supports Local Students in Design Project

ORENDA WORLD, based in Minato, Tokyo, has joined forces with Amakusa City in Kumamoto Prefecture to establish the "Digital Art Amakusa" organization. This initiative aims to assist students from the Amakusa Industrial High School's CG department in creating original designs and logos for commemorative goods that celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Amakusa Christian Museum.

Project Overview: Design as a Way to Learn History

In 2026, the Amakusa Christian Museum will commemorate six decades of its establishment. In preparation for this milestone, a special exhibition titled "Reading the Shimabara-Amakusa Rebellion through Illustrations (tentative)" is being organized. The museum reached out to the students of Amakusa Industrial High School with a request to incorporate the perspectives of local youth into the design of products and logos related to this event.

The students will reinterpret the unique historical assets of their region through a modern lens, working on designs such as illustrations and logos that reflect their learning and creativity.

Building Design Concepts Through Lectures by the Museum Director

On April 3, 2026, the CG students visited the Amakusa Christian Museum. During this visit, Director Toyohiro Hirata provided insights into the history of the Shimabara-Amakusa Rebellion, discussing the significance of the various materials on display. He emphasized the importance of nurturing a sense of pride and responsibility for one's community.
The students, by engaging with real historical materials and the contextual background of their heritage, recognized the critical role of their designs in conveying local sentiments rather than merely serving as decoration. This encounter re-energized their dedication to the creation process.

Future Support Structure

With the goal of having goods ready for order by July, students will continue their design work under the guidance of professional instructors dispatched by Digital Art Amakusa. This support will focus on teaching foundational design skills using digital tools, understanding how to meet client requests effectively, and grasping copyrights in the practical realm. Such guidance aims to equip students with actionable skills that directly contribute to their future careers.

ORENDA WORLD’s Commitment to Regional Revitalization and Educational Support

ORENDA WORLD believes in harnessing technology and creativity to address societal challenges. Through the "Digital Art Island Creation Project" in collaboration with Amakusa City, the organization aims to create a cycle where improving the educational environment contributes to the revitalization of local culture and industries. The company will continue to promote initiatives like this one, where educational outcomes enhance the value of public facilities in the community.
