TSA Unveils the 2025 Canine Calendar
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is excited to announce the launch of its highly anticipated
2025 TSA Canine Calendar, a yearly tradition celebrating the dedication of the agency's canine teams throughout the United States. The calendar is now available for immediate download, allowing everyone to take a closer look at the beloved canines that play a crucial role in ensuring transportation security.
With a commitment to safety and security, TSA employs over
1,000 explosives detection canines as part of its comprehensive security strategy. Each year, approximately
300 new canines undergo an intensive
16-week training program at the TSA Canine Training Center, located at
Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas. During this rigorous training, these skilled animals are paired with their handlers, learning to detect various explosive odors and adapt to the bustling environments of transportation hubs.
The
2025 calendar features
13 remarkable canines, meticulously selected from over
80 entries submitted by TSA teams nationwide. Each month showcases a different canine hero along with delightful photos and interesting facts. This year's standout lineup includes:
- - Argo from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
- - Arina from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
- - Badger from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD)
- - Barni from San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- - Dodo from Portland International Airport (PDX)
- - And many more!
The calendar spotlights
Barni, the winner of the
Cutest Canine Contest. This five-year-old
German Shorthaired Pointer is celebrated for having a calm demeanor coupled with a playful personality. Barni enjoys chasing squirrels and socializing with his four-legged colleagues while also being an invaluable partner in explosives detection at San Francisco International Airport.
These dedicated canine teams, alongside their handlers, exemplify a commitment to safety, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and resilience in their mission to protect the traveling public. They work tirelessly to detect explosives and deter potential threats across all modes of transportation.
