SERES Takes Steps Towards Global Expansion at ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum
On May 27th, 2025, the ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum officially commenced in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This event aims to cultivate development opportunities and promote shared prosperity through enhanced cooperation in various sectors including economy, trade, and investment. Notable among the participants was SERES, representing China’s New Energy Vehicle (NEV) enterprises, underscoring its ambitions in the international automotive landscape.
The forum saw John Zhang, Chairman and President of SERES, elaborate on the brand's vision. With a tagline of "Intelligence Redefining Luxury," SERES is committed to exploring the high-end luxury vehicle market, thereby setting a developmental trajectory for Chinese automakers. As part of its strategy, SERES plans to accelerate local development and model certification within ASEAN and GCC member countries, particularly highlighting its high-end AITO series. This rapid introduction aims to ensure a thorough market presence as it capitalizes on advantageous regional dynamics.
SERES's export journey started in 2005, and since then, the company has successfully exported over 550,000 vehicles to more than 70 countries, including major markets like Germany, France, the UK, and Italy. A significant milestone in SERES's growth was reached in 2018 when it established a highly automated manufacturing facility in Indonesia. This facility integrates four key processes—stamping, welding, painting, and assembling—making SERES the first manufacturer of purely electric vehicles in Indonesia. Positioned strategically in Indonesia, SERES aims to expand its reach across ASEAN while enhancing its market presence in Southeast Asia.
Participating in the ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum will allow SERES to strengthen ties and foster cooperation with ASEAN and GCC nations, effectively hastening its international market expansion initiatives. During his discussions at the forum, John Zhang outlined SERES's evolution since its inception in 1986. The company has transitioned through three entrepreneurial phases—from automotive parts to complete vehicles, and now focusing on smart electric vehicles—achieving remarkable leaps in progress each step of the way.
Today, AITO stands as a standard-bearer for "new luxury" in China, merging traditional luxury with technological innovation. SERES has gained trust from over 600,000 users, reinforcing its position as a forerunner in redefining luxury.
As a technology-driven organization, SERES emphasizes innovation in core technologies concerning electrification and intelligence. It is developing key platforms including the SERES MF Platform, Super Range Extender, Intelligent Safety, and Super Factory, thereby creating a robust technological moat against its competitors.
In a rapidly evolving global economy, SERES is adopting a more inclusive and open mindset, striving to collaborate with partners across diverse sectors to collectively write a new chapter in the development of China’s new energy automotive industry.
