IDCA Releases the Global Digital Economy Report (2025)
On January 8, 2025, the International Data Center Authority (IDCA) proudly published its "Global Digital Economy Report (2025)." This extensive document provides an in-depth examination of the $16 trillion global digital economy, highlighting a novel and detailed ranking system that evaluates each nation's journey towards establishing its own digital economy.
IDCA's Chairman and CEO, Mehdi Paryavi, emphasized the importance of understanding the digital economy, stating, "The Digital Economy is the driver of our modern lives and rewriting human history in bits and bytes." He pointed out that it is crucial for leaders to look beyond a nation’s size and GDP. Instead, their focus should be on achievements in relation to the resources and opportunities they possess.
The report is designed to guide strategic nation builders, investors, and industry experts by providing a comprehensive understanding of how nations can avoid ineffective measures and implement positive changes aimed at enhancing the prosperity and sustainability of their economies and the livelihoods of their citizens.
Among the key features of the report is its categorization of digital economy development into four primary phases: Phase III (Highly Developed), Phase II (Emerging), Phase I (Early Stage), and a Pre-Phase. According to Roger Strukhoff, IDCA’s Chief Research Officer, only six countries have attained the advanced Phase III status, while 30, including the United States, fall under the Emerging level. Additionally, 79 countries are categorized as being in the Early Stage, and 68 countries are in the Pre-Phase.
This report is not merely a ranking; it emphasizes the potential for each nation to achieve its own unique digital growth. The insights presented aim to empower countries to strategically plan their digital economies.
The Global Digital Economy Report is freely accessible to nations, corporations, and Digital Economy professionals. This document serves as a pivotal reference point, building upon IDCA's Digital Readiness Index, which defines statistical benchmarks and insightful analyses crucial for understanding our evolving world.
Strukhoff elaborated on the report's revolutionary approach, highlighting that it is the only one worldwide that assesses nations based on a relative and proportional framework, considering their current economic capabilities to cultivate a digital economy. "There really is no other organization or research that examines the world's digital economy through such a comprehensive lens,
